We want to thank Mike Neal, Paul Vincent Groeschen, and Justin Smith & Jett Smith for the help with the storm clean up.

We’re hoping everyone affected by yesterday’s storm is recovering and cleaning up as best as they can.

We’ll be open today for normal business hours as long as the power is and stays on - updates to follow. We got lucky and consider ourselves blessed considering the circumstances.

**Update - We’re open and ready to serve some (hopefully) cold beer. The alley behind the bar is closed from the Roost to E Southern due to some damage to HCHS from the storm.

We love the fake made up days on the calendar. It gives you an excuse to celebrate the mundane. National donut day? Yes! National cheese coney day? Absolutely, Skyline of course. It’s Friday and it hot. But you know what isn’t hot? Cold beer. It’s a scientific fact that cold beer is not hot. While this next point might not be scientific but we see it is fact. It’s Wednesday. Middle of the week. 2nd worst day of the week if you ask me. Know what you need? A cold beer and some friendship. USA vs Bosnia-Herzegovina tonight at 8. Don’t like soccer? Too bad! Be a patriot. Stop in and have a beer… friendship is free but we will have to charge you for the beer.

Tomorrow we lay a legend to rest. But Goodtimers will go on as Kenny Smith would want it to. He would want to thank you for your patronage and years of friendship as all of his friends have come to Goodtimers so many times to have a good time. If you can’t stop by tomorrow, the next time you make it down to the bar, share a story with us about Kenny - stories of how stubborn and hardheaded he could be are in abundance and we love them, but stories of the man with a heart of gold, who would do anything for anyone are even better. Uncle Kenny will be missed but never forgotten! Here’s to you friend 🥃

Kenneth "Kenny" Edward Smith, 65, of Latonia, KY, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish and a 1978 graduate of Holy Cross High School in Covington (Latonia), KY. Kenny retired from Duke Energy after many years of service and was a member of Covington Turners for 46 years. He was owner/operator of Goodtimers II in Latonia, KY. Kenny loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Kay Smith. Kenny is survived by his loving former wife: Sandy Von Hoene Smith; sons: Justin (Jill) Smith, Andrew (Lindsey) Smith and Eric (Hannah) Smith; siblings: Cindy (late: Danny) Haubner, Kevin (Kim) Smith and Candy Randall; 6 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 9:00 AM until the Eulogy Service at 11:45 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Holy Cross Church, 3612 Church Street, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015. A reception will take place at Goodtimers II immediately following the Mass. Entombment: Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright, KY. Memorials are suggested to: Holy Cross High School c/o Clay's Kids, 3617 Church Street, Covington, KY 41015. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015 is serving the family.
