Lost and Found

Lost and Found Welcome to Lost and Found! Where recipes that have been lost, have been found. You haven't experienced ambiance, service, and food like this!

Lost and Found Restaurant is fairly unique in Laramie. It's food is garden/butcher to kitchen. The menu is not large because each day, the restaurant features food and drink recipe "lost" and "found". We feature at least one L&F recipe on Wed and Thus and two on the weekend. One time it might come from Charles Browne's Gun Club Cook Book from 1930's, Louis P De Gouy's Gold Cook Book from 1940's, o

r possibly Oscar Tschirky from the Waldorf and his book from 1896 (we have these books). The "Lost and Found" recipes will also come from our employees and patrons family recipes. Mike Armstrong, the owner and resider of Carbon County for 15 years, specialty is spirits. He owned a popular restaurant/bar in Taichung, Taiwan for five years. His place got voted best American Restaurant 2 years in a row 2005, 2006 in a city of 3 million. He was Jim Beam's Brand Ambassador for Taiwan during that time, along with Ocean Spray. He brings commitment to quality to Laramie and it shows in food/drink and by the ambiance. It is one of the most beautiful venues, with art and antiques to be enjoyed while dining. The Polyphone, dating back to 1870 is a must see. It is a giant music box that is breathtaking to behold and hear. In the 1870's it was playing in a German beer house. It is playing again in Laramie, Wyoming. It was "Lost" in a basement in Germany for years and has "Found" a home, in the great place of Laramie.

Jason (owner of Shocktoberfest), Symon (assistant at Lost and Found) and Mike (owner of Lost and Found) had meeting last week to decide on cocktail menu. Classics are back that were much appreciated when we were at 404 South 2nd street. Adding a couple more (mostly in the Julep family). Strong chance we will be starting this next week on Thus. The address is 3d and Grand. It is the place with the beer garden instead of a parking lot. Sort of hard to miss in Laramie. Once everything is confirmed, will get a post out. Look forward to serving the cocktail lovers of Wyoming soon.

Check it out. Lost and Found might have found a new home. As you may know the building (404 South 2nd Street in Laramie) collapsed a couple months back. The building's condition was a HUGE reason we closed. Ceiling was falling down everywhere. I was not surprised when it collapsed. Anyway, enter Jason Palumbo who is opening up a Bavarian Beer Garden Restaurant on 3d and Grand who asked us at Lost and Found for a potential resurrection on the cocktail side. Yes all the drinks you got to enjoy are coming back to Laramie. I will keep you posted as this all comes together.

To all those that supported us and those who wanted to, I want to say thank you very much. It was a difficult decision to close what we thought to be the best place for cocktails in Laramie, if not Wyoming. The research of old recipes for food, was enlightening and we loved sharing. Again, it was a difficult decision. There are many reasons we closed, but I want to say a special thanks to the Boomerang for such a great article on what we were doing. When they wrote it, we did not know that we were closing for sure, so it is appreciated that the article let more people know that Lost and Found was special. I am so proud of my staff that stayed with me to the end. No words can thank them enough. To those who told me, we made the best drinks they had ever tasted and the food exceptional, thank you for making me proud. To those on Trip Advisor that had us at #1 for months and months out 0f 97 restaurants, thank you so much. It was a little crazy how many people appreciated us who were not from Laramie. To the Laramie customers who came, thank you. Lost and Found may be gone now, but it is already becoming a legend as a place that everyone should have tried. We were not open for long in the scheme of things, but our impact is definitely there. I guess we did go out like James Dean, which isn't a bad thing. Cheers, Mike Armstrong- Founder of Lost and Found.

Cocktails of course. If you have not had a chance to try us, this is the time. After Saturday we go out like James Dean. Cheers, Mike

We will be open on X-mas eve, Closed X-mas day and reopen for Friday and Saturday. We wish you a great holiday and come by to enjoy a citrus toddy, our winter specialty.

The American Heritage Cookbook is where we found our soup Cream of Ham and Spinach. A delicious ham stock with cream and spinach plus carrots. Our chicken pesto from Gentleman's Companion Culinary volume is another 1930's treat. Although the weather isn't bad, we recommend our citrus toddy with gold rum as the drink to try. Friday we will have our Happy Hour with $1.75 Margaritas, Bourbon Stone Sours and Planters Punch 5-7. Cheers.

Gobbler soup is on the menu today along with the Parker Rolls. This is from the Horizon Cookbook from 1950's. Turkey based stock with spinach, apples, tomato. Chicken Parmesan with Angel Hair Pasta is the dish of the week. If you haven't tried our Satan's Whiskers, cocktail from 1930's, you are missing a treat. Enjoy your Saturday.

12/03/2014

The experiment is over with Parker Rolls. The recipe is from 1800's and although the first attempts were not something we could send out, we got it right by the weekend. People were asking for seconds. Really is excellent how something so old can taste so good. Tonight we will be featuring Chicken Parmesan. Pesto is still on the menu too.

Our Pesto Pasta with chicken has also been surprising people--if you like pesto, this is a dish to try. Hope it was a great Thanksgiving to all that read this.
