💡 Bringing ideas to life has become much easier in the digital age—as software developers introduce 3D design technologies such as Civil 3D.

Civil 3D comes from the Autodesk family and can be used for site and road design with features focusing on survey analysis, intersection design, terrain modeling, storm and sanitary modeling, and more.

Here are some of the Coffey team’s favorite features:

âś… Dynamic: Various design elements update to reflect changes.

âś… Agility: A surface can now be created in minutes, while before it would take days to draw by hand.

âś… Practicality: The user has the ability to reference data from other drawings, meaning things only need to be drawn once.

✍🏼 In the old days architects, engineers and designers relied on the good pen and paper to draw out their ideas. Nowadays, these professionals can create computer-aided designs (CAD) with digital softwares such as AutoCAD.

Autocad was first introduced by Autodesk in 1982, primarily as a software for architects. Fortunately, throughout the years the technology has expanded to serve the surveying and engineering field as well.

đź–Ą Autocad creates precise visual simulations by representing objects in 3D form on a computer screen, allowing designs to be explored and tested before actually created.

Subdivision development can be a timely process, as it requires collaboration between surveyors, CAD specialists and engineers, as well as a 3-step process of submissions, reviews and revisions to the city and county.

Having an all-inclusive company can accelerate the process of developing a subdivision, avoid project delays and optimize project costs.

Read our infographic to understand subdivision development from the eyes of a surveying and engineering team.

🚧 A subdivision may be desired by a developer who wants to construct multiple homes on a large plot of land, a private landowner who wishes to sell parcels independently or a city that needs to section its boundaries.

Read our article to understand the initial processes—commencing with engineering and surveying—which anticipate a subdivision development.

“Subdivision platting” refers to the legal process of dividing a large piece of land into smaller fragments, and is often interchangeable with the term “subdivision development. ” Land developers and private landowners are usually the ones to request a subdivision plat, as they would like to...

“Subdivision platting” refers to the legal process of dividing a large piece of land into smaller fragments. The “plat” itself is a legal, officially approved and recorded drawing which depicts the layout of the land split.

A subdivision may be desired by a developer who wants to construct multiple homes on a large plot of land, a private landowner who wishes to sell parcels independently or a city that needs to section its boundaries.

Civil + Structural Engineer is recognized as a reliable news source for all things engineering, and we are proud to announce that the article written by Engineering & Surveying CAD Specialist, Teresa Grove, was recently featured in this month's digital edition.

The "Inside A 'Land Exhibit'" article captures the process behind an easement location, exemplifies who might need one and describes Coffey’s experience with land exhibits.

By Teresa Grove A Day In The Life Of A CAD Specialist Today, I am putting together a deliverable we call an “exhibit.” It is a document which describes an easement location. In this case, a power company is purchasing a road easement from a private landowner, and our exhibits describe the locati...

đź‘€ Take a look at what we are currently working on: one of the oldest streets in Rawlins, Wyoming, Walnut street is close to finalizing the renovations that started in July of 2021.

"A large, publicly-funded project with a tight schedule, Walnut Street requires a Construction Engineering Manager to facilitate communication between contractors and city, mitigate plan discrepancies in the field and provide impartial third-party verification."

Read our full project update below to learn how our role as CEM helps the Walnut Street project stay on track.
