Currently residing in Sweetwater County, she uses horsehair, flora and insect wings to create imprints in her handmade jewelry designs. In founding Seminoe, Wyoming's first permanent jewelry company was also born. She offers dozens of chain styles in Sterling Silver, 14k Gold-fill, & 14

k Solid Gold. As a Metalsmith, Lacey exclusively offers handmade charms and connectors. Each piece is cut, drilled, and polished one by one. A final glow of summer meets September blue.

Before it becomes permanent jewelry, this small stone carries more than 160 years of Montana history.

It feels especially fitting to share it at the beginning of September, as sapphire is this month’s birthstone.

Montana sapphires were first discovered by gold prospectors along the Missouri River in 1865. Initially overlooked in the search for gold, many later found an unexpected purpose as precision bearings in watches and instruments before earning their place in fine jewelry.

Sapphire is the gem variety of corundum, admired for both its beauty and remarkable durability. This Montana sapphire has been fashioned in a rose cut, revealing facets that shift between blue, gray, and silver as the light moves across it.

From here, I will hand set the stone into a connector for permanent jewelry. It is a small piece of the American West, carried forward through traditional metalsmithing and made to be worn.
