To say we're all experiencing an unimaginable loss is an understatement. Moe has touched and impacted all of us with her quick wit, her charm, her laughter, her generous spirit, and her wellspring of compassion. Her footprint in this world could never be filled, and the love we all feel for her will never waiver. Without a doubt, Maureen would want us to nourish those feelings, not for her, but for somebody else. She had no patience for dwelling in misery or loss. ("Snap out of it!", she'd say:)
Maureen is a fighter and she'd never excuse any of us not fighting on too. She’s fought with enduring patience and determination, as she navigated life with a strong moral compass.
As just one of her many nieces, there isn't another woman that I've tried to emulate more. She always came to see my bands play back in the 90s, and nothing felt better than seeing her there. One time she almost KO'd a guy who was moshing too close to the stage. Of course, he backed right down with a look of genuine terror in his eyes. Can you blame him?
Moe made us feel special, and at home. Magnanimous, charismatic, confident and cool earned her a tremendous amount of respect and devotion.
In conclusion, maybe this Irish Blessing says it best.
I love you, Aunt Maureen. We all do.
“Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear.”
