Our two-day Saddle Series last weekend was an absolute blast—epic runs, big smiles, and nothing but good arena vibes from start to finish!

Huge congratulations to all our winners and every roper who backed in the box and helped make it such a fun, high-energy couple of days! Massive thank you to the producers and crew who put their hearts into this series—y’all are the engine behind the Kirkland revival, and we don’t take that for granted for one second.

To this community: your support means the world to us. Every team entered, every family cheering, every “see you next weekend” is part of the story we’re writing together out here at Kirkland’s—where the past is our charm, and the present is a party!

HISTORY, SHENANIGANS & SADDLES!!! 🤠🦖💣

Remember when we dug up that “cannonball” out back and the comments went wild—half of you insisting it was an old mill ball, the other half voting for “instant Kirkland legend!” Then a few weeks later we unearthed that dinosaur vertebrae from inside the wall (how weird is that?!?) and everyone swore we’d finally found proof that one of our regulars had been here since the Jurassic!!!

Well…y’all did this... You called us a "museum", so we became one! The famous Kirkland cannonball and our very own dino vertebrae are now displayed museum‑style, under glass, behind the bar—fancy lighting, serious presentation, completely unserious crowd... 🤠

And because the relics keep coming, we had to give those old PRINCE ALBERT CANS a spot in the “exhibit” too! So yes, for everyone who grew up prank‑calling stores—“Do you have Prince Albert in a can?”—you can now stroll into Kirkland’s, point at the display, and proudly say, “Why don’t you let him out?!” No phone required, just a bar tab.

Now for this weekend’s LIVE EXHIBITS—the part of the "museum" that shakes the walls:

TONIGHT (FRIDAY): TRULY RECKLESS - 5–8 PM Country rock done right, turned up loud, and guaranteed to start this weekend with a bang!

SATURDAY: TEX‑AZ TROUBADOURS - 6–9 PM Playing while the Season Opener roping is rocking the arena—dance, cheer, or sing between runs, your choice!

SUNDAY: SKY DADDY - 5–8 PM An incredible mix of traditional, outlaw, and newer country to wrap up the weekend with one big, boot‑stomping, sing‑at‑the‑top‑of‑your‑lungs throwdown!

All weekend long the SEASON OPENER ROPING, our first two‑day saddle series are rolling in the arena—loops flying, dust hanging in the sunset, saddles and bragging rights on the line—while inside the “museum,” the bands keep the floors bouncing!!!

Come for the cannonball, high‑five the dinosaur, salute Prince Albert in his can, rope all day, dance all night, and help prove once again: the past is our charm, the present is a PARTY, and the future is whatever kind of wild we dream up together!!!

WHEN A REAL ARTIST WALKS THROUGH YOUR DOORS...

Y'all, we need to talk about what happened last week. A gentleman named Michael Strong wandered into Kirkland's, asked if he could snap a few pictures, and then handed us back PURE MAGIC!

These aren't just photographs, folks—they're love letters to history. Michael captured our bank vault in all its mysterious glory, Mary's room with every delicate detail glowing like a memory, our antique organ standing proud, and corners of this old saloon that we see every day but never quite like THIS.

The way the light dances off those weathered walls, the stories whispering from every shadow, the romance of a bygone era caught perfectly in time—Michael, you didn't just take pictures. You showed us our own soul.

Thank you Michael for your incredible talent, and for sharing these masterpieces with us and our Kirkland family. Every single person who walks through our doors is helping write the next chapter of this historic place, and you just wrote it in pure gold.

Today, we pause.

At Kirkland’s, we’re surrounded by the freedoms that feel like everyday things—laughter on the patio, music drifting through open doors, friends gathering without a second thought. None of that is accidental. It was earned, and it was paid for by men and women who never made it home.

This day belongs to them—and to the families who carry their stories, their strength, and their absence every single day. To the veterans who walk through our doors, we see you. To those we’ve lost, we remember you. And to the families who stood beside them, we honor you.

Raise a glass, say a name, share a story. That’s how we keep them with us.

⭐️ Homegrown Heroes: Kirkland Sheriff’s Posse Comes Home 🤠

Hey Kirkland family… want to see something really, really cool?

A while back we shared here that we’d found the original Kirkland Sheriff’s Posse flag (from the late 60's/early 70's) tucked away in the attic, and we were over-the-moon to hang that beautiful piece of local history in the saloon.

Well, in true Kirkland fashion, the story didn’t stop there...

The day we carried that flag in to show it off, who just happened to be sitting at the bar? Tom R. (if you know, you know 🤠) – the original head of the Kirkland Sheriff’s Posse. Only in this town, right?

Tom took one look at that flag, smiled, and said, “I’ve got something for you.”

Next thing we know, he’s back with the original Sheriff’s Posse patch and his badge from when he led the posse here in Kirkland! Homegrown heroes, right at our bar, handing us living history!

Now all three pieces – the flag, the patch, and the badge – are together again, under one roof, right here at Kirkland’s Saloon. We’ve proudly hung them above the historic Maughan Ranch dining room table (a gift we’re deeply grateful for from our friends at TK Bar Ranch), so you can:

Sit at the Maughan family table,

Dine beneath the Kirkland Sheriff’s Posse flag,

And raise a glass to the men and women who helped write the story of Kirkland and Yavapai County.

It truly doesn’t get any more “Kirkland” than that.

This little saloon has become a place where past and present shake hands every single day – where flags come out of attics, badges come out of drawers, and the people who were the story are still here to tell it. We are beyond thankful for this community and how you’ve embraced us, trusted us with your memories, and let us help preserve this history together.

So next time you’re in, come wander into the dining room, look up at that flag, check out Tom’s patch and badge, and feel the goosebumps for yourself.

🔥 THE FEED’S BEEN QUIET… BUT KIRKLAND’S HAS BEEN WILD!!! 🤠🎉

If the feed’s felt a little too quiet, that’s because we meant it to be. While things looked calm online, Kirkland’s was anything but—behind the scenes we’ve been putting our team, our place, and our systems through the fire to make sure we could handle the kind of big, rowdy events this community deserves. We pressed pause on posting so we could focus on getting everything truly dialed in… and wow, did this town show us what we’re capable of together!!

In the last couple of months, we finished the arena and event center, brought “the beach” (our new back patio) to life under those beautiful locally made wrought iron solar chandeliers, opened up parking and dry camping by the arena, started shining up the hotel rooms (even Mary the resident ghost has been busy tidying up “her” room), and packed the retail store with unique finds from local artisans. Every decision was about one thing: making sure that when you roll into Kirkland’s, your experience feels unforgettable from the moment you park to the moment you ride off.

Then came the real test—our first big roping. Families filled the rodeo grounds, kids ran under the cottonwoods, and the arena buzzed with energy… and our crew rose to the occasion! Next up, the chopper rally roared in and turned Iron Springs Road into a river of chrome and steel, with the bar and “the beach” back patio rocking at happy hour. We followed it up with the Bringing Back the Good Times Roping and an Extreme Cowboy Competition, and each time we learned, adjusted, tightened things up—and came out on top!!

Now that we’ve run those trial by fire events and proven this historic outpost can handle the big stuff, it’s time to turn the volume back up online! Tonight we’re firing up our smoked Old Fashioneds—your choice of whiskey, your choice of wood (cherry, oak, hickory, pear, or apple), and we’ll smoke it for you tableside for that perfect out‑on‑the‑range flavor. Come claim your spot, raise a glass, and help us break in the next chapter of Kirkland’s one smoky sip at a time!

And for all you history buffs and ghost story lovers… buckle up. We’ve got new ghost videos 👀, wild relics from the saloon, hotel, basement, and kitchen, and a stack of stories that we’ll be rolling out in the days ahead.

The steakhouse kitchen is coming together, the temporary kitchen is tuned up, and we’re ready to swing those saloon doors WIDE OPEN with a whole lot of gratitude and a whole lot of excitement. 🌵 MAY AT KIRKLAND’S 🌵

The past few months have been nothing short of amazing out here in Kirkland, and we just wanted to take a moment to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts...

We’ve got a full May calendar lined up – the best bands, exciting events, great food, ice cold drinks, and plenty of chances to laugh with your neighbors and make some new friends – but you may have noticed we’re keeping things a little low key while we get ready behind the scenes. BIG things are coming this summer... and we can’t wait to share what’s next with all of you!

To everyone who’s driven out, hauled a horse trailer, parked an RV, played a song, told a bad joke, danced in their boots, or just shared a smile at the bar – you’ve made Kirkland’s feel like home in ways we never could’ve imagined. Your support and the way you’ve embraced this old building and its stories truly humbles us every single day.
