As we head into a beautiful weekend on the river...we would like to take this time to remind all of our customers ( by land and by the river) a few things:
- We are located within a residential community, please keep this in mind when you are on the way into Rick's. PLEASE MAINTAIN 25MPH OR LOWER AT ALL TIMES. This will be a busy weekend! Not only will there be a lot of pedestrian traffic, but there will be tons of golf carts around also.
-Motorcycles- We please ask that you do not rev your engines in the parking lot. Please be respectful of the fact that there are other vehicles around you.
-Boaters- Please be respectful of the fact that the other than the beach located DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF RICK'S the beach is completley private. You may not use it for any purpose.
-BOATERS....please be mindful of your music. Please do not play music past 11pm. Please remember your the stern of your boats often face directly towards the community of Fairview Beach. Please use common sense and respect with the your volume!!!
-EVERYONE please pick up your trash!!! This goes for the beach and the parking lot.
We are a family owned business, you will see our children working this weekend and you will see all of our staff doing everything within their power to make sure each of you has the best experience possible....but please, please, please have patience. We are going to be very busy and we will be doing the best we can!!! We ask that you show the entire Rick's staff (and each other) kindness and grace.
Lastly.....LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!!!!!!!!!

2011 was the first year of Rick’s On The River. We are a family owned business with strong roots in the community. Most may not know that the restaurant was named after my father Rick Thomas. He was well known within the Fairview Beach community. He would tell you what was on his mind, whether you wanted to hear it or not. He would also give you the shirt off of his back and ask nothing in return. He loved the water and all of the things that go along with it. I have fond memories of boating, fishing, and skiing on the Potomac for as far back as I can recall. Neither my husband nor I had any previous restaurant experience, so you can only imagine some of the shock that went along with owning Rick’s. We have somehow managed to roll with the punches and stick around each year. If you haven’t been to Rick’s it is a bit difficult to understand the uniqueness that goes along with it.
People come to the river to relax and let their hair down. We have tried through the years to create an environment that mimics a feeling like you are no longer in Virginia. We have tried to replicate a feeling some what of being in the Florida Keys (a place that my not only my father called home for sometime, but a place my husband and I truly love to visit). That feeling of pure simpleness and fun. Where you can pull up a chair in the sand, take your shoes off and enjoy a cocktail while you are watching one of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see. In fact everyone that works for us, my self included has countless pictures on our phones of the sunsets. No one like the other. It is sort of a ritual that about that time of day you will see everyone migrating closer to the beach to capture that awe inspiring moment.
Our staff is like our family and because of this bond our customers are simply an extension of this. We strive to show our customers a different restaurant experience. One where we go above and beyond every time you visit. We work very hard on good quality food that is consistent and on time. Believe you me, when we are busy this is a dance I never thought I would learn! We work long hours, most of us doubles every weekend in the summer to make sure we put on the best party that the Potomac has to offer each and every weekend. We have some of the best bands you will hear in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and as far away as New Jersey!
We would like to thank the community of Fairview Beach and King George for embracing us and making us your little home away from home. We understand you can always take your business elsewhere but we see so many familiar faces week after week. When we say that it is a family owned business, we mean it! Our children are often at the restaurant and often pitching in a hand where needed! Our customers and staff have watched them grow through the years and treat them as though they were their own! We are proud of the business we have built and could not have done it without the support of so many people! If you haven’t been to Rick’s before, stop in and have a drink, order some fried shrimp and just take it all in...you will not be sorry!
