Wineothropic Society of Central Texas The Wineothropic Society ensures that the finer things in life are enjoyed without pretense and alway is featured at each event. Must be present to win.

The Wineothropic Society ensures that the finer things in life are enjoyed without pretense and always in the company of good friends. The Wineothropic Society unites the legacy of Bacchus with the unabashed zest for life of today’s creative class.

------------------------RULES-----------------------

A different wine varietal (such as chardonnay, merlot, pinot noir, etc.) Teams, consisting of 1

to 3 participants, are admitted by bringing 3 bottles of the same featured varietal to the event. For example, if the featured varietal is merlot, your team could bring 3 bottles of the 2005 Hess Select Merlot. At the event, 2 of each team's 3 bottles are bagged, tagged and ranked by each participant. The 3rd bottle is set aside and left unopened. The teams that brought the 5 highest ranked wines divvy up each team's 3rd unopened bottle, except for the lowest ranked wine which will be returned to the team that brought it. If 2 or more teams bring the same wine, rankings can still differ depending upon the temperature of the wine, how long it has been open, etc. Please remember, teams can consist of 1 to 3 participants. Thus, a group of 4 participants, for example, will be considered 2 teams and must bring 6 bottles of the featured varietal to enter the event.

-------MIXING PHILANTHROPY WITH SOCIAL NETWORKING-------

By helping charities to organize and conduct wine tastings every quarter – that’s right, only four events a year – the Wineothropic Society integrates social and professional networking with philanthropy. The wine tastings attract a diverse mix of inquisitive, young professionals – wine novices and wine experts alike – to join on common ground for the benefit of charity. Everyone is welcome, as long as you’re over 21, but wine snobs should check their attitudes at the door. Wineothropic Society events, both “fundraisers” and “friendraisers,” introduce charity to an eager and untapped network of new donors and volunteers. If you would like your charity to be considered for a Wineothropic Society event, please email us at [email protected].

"Christ be with me, Christ within me
Christ behind me, Christ before me
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger."

The "date which shall live in infamy" — as President Franklin D. Roosevelt famously put it. 2,403 Americans died and 19 vessels were either sunk or badly damaged in the attack, which involved more than 350 warplanes launched from Japanese carriers that had secretly made their way to a remote expanse of the North Pacific. It caught the brass in Hawaii by surprise and stunned the nation.

"Never inflict upon another major military power a policy which would cause you yourself to go to war unless you are fully prepared to engage that power militarily," wrote American historian Roland Worth Jr., in "No Choice But War: The United States Embargo against Japan and the Eruption of War in the Pacific." "And don't be surprised that if they do decide to retaliate, that they seek out a time and a place that inflicts maximum harm and humiliation upon your cause."

We honor those who live and die for us. We remember.
