📣A somewhat formal-ish apology from Coasting Cocktails —

We would like to apologize for our recent disappearance from the socials. We fully understand that going radio silent is a crime only punishable by the almighty Instagram algorithm. ☠️☠️☠️

We hope that you will rejoin us while we work our way back up in ranks! PS- your comments, shares, and saved help a lot!

In our defense— we spent most of our September gallivanting around on a few industry trips and needing out on all things spirits/cocktail related. If you are a part of the hospitality industry and are not familiar with Tiki by the Sea or Behind the Barrel, do yourself a favor and CHECK THEM OUT!

We may have also squeezed in a tiny bit of personal time. Aren’t we all human, after all?!

Unfortunately, somewhere between the back to back flights, unpacking and repacking, our “social media manager” abandoned ship.

PS- that social media manager is me.

Here is a little bit of evidence that we are still out here shaking things up! We still have approximately 927 pictures and videos that we will get around to posting…sometime.

Now please excuse us, while we begin batching for our next 20 events and activations in 9 days, as season officially kicks off in Key West. And also somehow find the time to update the ‘gram with the last two months of content.

A Fine + Fed 30th Birthday in Key West calls for gorgeous gals, a menu of martinis, and the cutest hors d’oeuvres that clearly understood the assignment!

Chef Laura brought the CUTEST spread including a caviar display, salmon sliders, cocktail weenies, chicken & finger fingers, and all the little morsels in between!

And of course, every good bite deserves a an equally delicious sip! Coasting Cocktails created a martini menu to make 30 feel just a little more fabulous!

In a world where guest shifts and pop ups are causing an uproar, I figured now was the time to introduce mine…

The recent conversations surroundings guests shifts and pop-ups have made on thing clear— we definitely have some room to grow.

If we look at the foundation of a guest shift, they can be incredible! They create a sense of community, they can bring attention to smaller markets and bars off the beaten award-winning path, they allow bartenders to learn from one another, they foster education, they provide an opportunity for fundraising or awareness, and they give us the chance to share our work beyond the walls of our home bars.

Maybe we’re missing the point here — the answer isn’t to stop doing guest shifts or to share those that do them— it’s to do them better!

Do a little research, invite bartenders from smaller markets into the conversation, involve other local businesses, make sure your pop actually feels like a collaboration!

What more could you ask for on a Key West Wednesday evening?!

Captain Josh took us out to the old Hemingway Stilts where we shared laughs, chats, sunset views, and PLENTY OF DAIQUIRIS!

We had the honor of hosting some incredible rum legends including Ed Hamilton, Jeff “Beachbum” Berry, and Shawn Martin— Edward Hamilton Jeff “Beachbum” Berry Shawn Michael Dean, Author

We poured some incredible rum expressions— everything from Agricole to Jamaican to our local Pilar rums!

A big thanks to Neil Lindley and Key West Rum Festival for asking me to guest bartend!

Daniele Dalla Polla is a world-renowned Italian bartender, mixologist, and global expert in tiki and tropical cocktail culture. Celebrated internationally for his deep knowledge of rum, vintage tropical drink history, and immersive bar concepts. He previously owned the famous Nu Lounge Bar in Bologna, Italy, and later founded the tropical cocktail establishment Esotico Miami in Florida.

Flor de Caña is a premium, sustainably crafted rum produced in Nicaragua since 1890. Family-owned for five generations, it is naturally aged in bourbon barrels at the base of the active San Cristóbal volcano without any sugar or artificial additives. Certified carbon-neutral and distilled using 100% renewable energy.

Jess Larson blends a love for cocktails with a passion for creativity in every pour. What began as a spark for guest experiences has grown into a dedication to innovation, where tradition meets mobility and cocktails take center stage. Guided by continuous learning and a drive to reimagine the bar experience, she creates drinks and moments that are as immersive as they are unforgettable.

Oh, Tales… where do I even begin?
What once felt like an excuse to travel and bounce from party to party has slowly transformed into something so much more meaningful. Each time I attend an industry event, it’s like one of the most special little family reunions that I look forward to more and more.
There’s something soooo incredible about this industry– it’s so expansive and filled with the best people, brands, cities, and opportunities from all over the world! Yet, the more you immerse yourself in it, the smaller it begins to feel. Those that you used to admire through the socials or from a distance quickly turn into mentors, collaborators, friends and even family.
It’s wild how attending expos, immersive brand trips, educational opportunities, competitions, and events can completely change the way you experience this industry. You begin to realize that the connections you make along the way are just as valuable as the knowledge you gain. And some of the bonds you form will never be broken.
I once heard someone say, “Your network is your net worth,” and the more I grow in this industry, the more deeply I feel this!
All these experiences are amazing, but it’s the people who make you feel like you belong wherever you are. It’s rare that I walk into an industry event and feel alone. Every year at Tales, I’m reminded just how lucky I am to be part of this weird, passionate, talented industry!
