The Barley Blacksmith

The Barley Blacksmith Our goal is to bring craft beer back to it's roots by brewing ales the way they're supposed to be brewed: with blood, sweat, and fire.

Since machine's have taken over, we've dealt with a plethora of mediocre swill being pumped out by the gallons. Our mission is to show the masses what real beer tastes like, one small batch at a time.

Barrel Post 2 of 2: Quite a few months back we brewed a Belgian Pale Ale, split it into two separate fermentors, and gave each one it's own version of Bretts. We will post all the details soon. But, with the recent bottling of our Muli Shani, we used this perfect timing. We blended our two Belgians and tossed them into our now empty Ranger Creek Rye Whiskey Barrel. We are going to give this guy some time and let it get real funky!

Barrel Post 1of 2: We just recently bottled up quite a few bombers of our newest creation. The Muli Shani is a 8.5% Zambian Coffee Stout aged in a Ranger Creek Rye Whiskey Barrel. We are completely stoked on how this turned out and can't wait to see what yall think!

We had a great time at The Point Park & Eats with Open The Taps and Karbach Brewing Co. last night! Amazing hosts and awesome representatives!

This may have been our last beer week tasting, but we will definitely keep everyone posted on our progress and can't wait to make our beer more available to you all!

Until then, drink local.

Hey guys, we're keeping beer week rolling this Friday with a special pouring at The Point Park & Eats!

We are bringing a split batch experimental brew we did recently and would love your feedback on them!

The style of beer is called a Gruit and is traditionally brewed without any hops, using other plants as bittering agents. We ditched the traditional bittering agents though and decided to try our own take on the style by using heather tips, rose hips, sweet and bitter orange peel, Belgian candi sugar, texas honey, and finishing each keg off with a hibiscus tea and a dandelion root tea. Of course we'll also have a few of our other brews available for sampling as well!

We can't wait to join Jeremy Banas with Open The Taps again this year and of course our friends Denise, Noel, and Sarah at The Point Park & Eats along with all of their excellent food trucks this Friday from 6pm till we run outta beer!

Had a great time hanging out with everyone at the Golden Age of Homebrewing event! Big thanks to the San Antonio Cerveceros, Alamo Beer, our man Jeremy Banas and the Bexar Brewers for putting things together and making sure everyone's pint glasses stayed full!

We're continually amazed at the community support us homebrewers and aspiring pro-brewers are given and are humbled by it on a daily basis. You guys are the real reason we do this and we'll never forget that.

Time to relax and enjoy this randalled Branchline Brewing Co. Shady Oak from GS1221. Why can't every week be beer week?

Cheers guys!
