Located in the Stockyards District of Kansas City, Missouri, Stockyards Brewing Co. is a craft brewery that doesn’t dwell on being a craft brewery. Because we opened Stockyards for a simple purpose: to make good, unpretentious beer for hardworking people, reinvigorating a historic spot seeped in our city’s character. came what it is in large part because of the West Bottoms. And the West Bottoms became what it was because of the Stockyards District. Being a railroad hub in the 1860s, the stockyards grew at a breakneck pace. And as the area developed around the thriving Stockyards Districtβ€”it became home to more than just an industrial hub, it became a cultural melting pot. Then, in 1949 on the first floor of the Livestock Exchange building, the original Golden Ox restaurant was opened. Being the premier steakhouse in Kansas City, you could find everyone from ranching cowboys to U.S. presidential candidates dining there. But after several fires and floods, the Stockyards District fell into disrepair. Not wanting the iconic Kansas City landmark to be lost for good, Stockyards Brewing Co. took over the space in the summer of 2015 in an effort to restore the rich history and nostalgia of the space. From the mahogany-paneled walls to the stained-glass drop ceiling over the bar, much of its original character and decor lives on in what is now our bar, taproom and event space.

Our good buds the Kaw Valley Hop Pickers are in the taproom for Sunday Service today and Gringos Cubanos are already out front ready to serve you the yummiest Cuban cuisine on the scene.

Today is extra special because the Band of Angels folks will be here as well. This charitys mission is helping children in need find music through the generosity of others. In doin so, they provide musical instruments and camp scholarships to young musicians where financial barriers exist. So if you've got a spare instrument looking for a home, bring it on down. They will make sure it is put to great use. Cash and QR donations will be accepted as well.
