NEW NEWS! MAKE A NOTE! There has been a change in the featured artist for our October 7th session of Mike Kelly's Bloody Mary Morning. Our special guests will be Adam Galblum and Clayton DeLong with a stripped down version/duo version of Shakedown Strings. Shakedown Strings is a trio composed of Adam Galblum on vocals and violin, Clayton DeLong on vocals and acoustic guitar, and Rick Willoughby on vocals and upright bass. Celebrating the music of the Grateful Dead, these long-time friends and collaborators draw upon their improvisational prowess to explore the Dead’s many songs and musical ideas. Based out of Kansas City, MO, Shakedown Strings brings energy, passion, and joy to the stage.
Adam Galblum is a violinist from Kansas City, Missouri, mentored by legendary jazz violinist Claude "Fiddler" Williams (original guitarist for Count Basie). Galblum studied for a minute at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and worked in Colorado for almost ten years touring nationally with bluegrass and jam bands.
Adam's 2014 solo album, the instrumental Down To The Wire - The Stringband Tribute to the Music of John Mayer, showcases his abilities as an arranger and multi-instrumentalist and features members of Infamous Stringdusters and Punch Brothers’ original lineup.
Clayton DeLong began playing the violin at age 12. After receiving a guitar for Christmas at age 16, Clayton immediately fell in love. Avidly pursuing a career as a guitarist, Clayton enrolled himself at The University of Missouri Kansas City, Conservatory of Music. Working toward a degree in jazz guitar, Clayton studied under Kansas City greats such as Rod Fleeman, Danny Embrey, Doug Niedt, Michael Pagan and Bobby Watson. He graduated on the Dean’s list with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2009. Using the knowledge he gained in college, Clayton has been a professional guitar instructor for six years and performs live music regularly. Clayton has performed and toured in many different bands from the Kansas City area. To name a few, El Robozo De Maria, Latin rock, the Junkadelic Funk Stars, an improvisational funk band, and numerous other jazz bands around Kansas City.
