Kalispell Beer and Wine Open This is an event promoting beer and wine commercially and home brewed. We are looking at around 30 breweries from around the state and beyond.

Alright everybody the time has finally come! Kalispell, MT is finally going to have its very own Beer and Wine event. It is called the Kalispell Beer and Wine Open. This event will involve both commercial breweries and home brewers competing for awards at the Flathead Valley Fairgrounds on June 13&14. The only difference is that the winner of the beer home brewing competition is that he/she will h

ave their beer brewed by Flathead Lake Brewing for the entire Flathead Valley to enjoy. We will be having satellite events at nearby hotels with special speakers talking about how to brew sour ales, meads, ciders, non-alcoholic, craft distilling and cocktails. We are hoping to see around 30 commercial breweries and countless number of home brewers. So start brewing everybody. This event will be for non-profit with a majority of the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Montana. We are fortunate to be working with CEO Joeseph Bischof. Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children – a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support. A Ronald McDonald House is that “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. The winner of the home brewing competition will choose another charity to have us donate money to as well. Shana Smith is painting an event poster for us that will be both used for our marketing of the event as well as having it auctioned off at the event with the proceeds going to a charity of her choosing.

This year's event will be moved to fall. June just too busy with other events going on in the valley. We are currently working with other people to come up with the perfect date. This allows alot of out of state and town breweries to get involved due to their schedule being a little more open. Thank you and look forward to seeing you in fall.

Ok so we have two winners. We have the overall winner who is Clint Nissen with the top beer out of Missoula who had 3 of the top 5 beers. His barrel aged brown was first and his sour was amazing. He will be brewing with the brewers at Flathead Lake. They are also pleased to announce that they were very pleased with the Cutter Nothin Pale Ale created by Roger Fingar and Trevor Caudill of Kalispell, MT. They will be brewing with them as well. Congrats to the both of them and thank you to all. Full results and comments will be post as soon as possible.

We want to thank everybody both vendors and the public who attended and showed their support at the 1st Annual Kalispell Beer and Wine Open. We are headed back to the drawing board to prepare for next year and to make the improvements needed to grow. Thank you again for your support and we will keep you all informed of the changes to come. We will have a full list of all of those wuo showed up both businesses and vendors to let you all know who you should support.

We are still in need of volunteers to pour beer and help take tickets and setting up tables and chairs. We will be moving people around so all can still have fun. Volunteers will get glass and t-shirt.
