Meet this month’s Staff Highlight: Lorenzo Castillo, GM of Maru Midland! 🤩

Lorenzo’s journey with Maru started long before he joined the team. With friends who worked here early on, he was already familiar with Maru—but after trying the sushi for himself, he was hooked. It quickly became a go-to spot for him and his girlfriend (now wife!).

After moving to Midland, he found his way to our team—and from his very first interview, he knew it was different. A conversation with CEO Robert Song left a lasting impression: “His questions made me think. I was challenged in a way that made me want to be better.” That mindset is a big reason Lorenzo has stayed—constantly growing for his guests, his team, and himself.

His go-to order? Salmon Sashimi with Kimchi & Rice—light, flavorful, and perfectly balanced 😌🍣

Outside of work, Lorenzo spends his time coaching youth sports and investing in the next generation. As a father, he takes pride in helping kids build confidence, teamwork, and skills both on and off the field.

Meet this month’s Staff Highlight: Eric! 🙌

GM of Maru East Lansing (and soon-to-be Brighton 👀), Eric has been part of the Maru family for nearly 2 Years now, finding his way to us after moving back to Michigan from North Carolina. He’s stayed for the people, the food, and the opportunity to keep learning and growing.

His recs? Yellowtail Crudo + the Madagascar 🤩
