The Mission, to bring quality live music to Jefferson City in a clean safe environment, did not originate nor come to fruition in the mind or through the hands of one person. As the gatekeeper for over 17 years, it is time to pass the keys and reins over for the business and building. It is my understanding, The Mission will remain closed during remodeling. Targeted reopening in February/March.
Since the 2019 cancer, chemo, and 2020 covid triple punch, my health has not bounced back upon my command. Cutting loose the stress, I choose to focus my curtailed energy and strength on my family. There are still adventures ahead and new mountains to climb. I also look forward to catching up with many friends and attending more live music events. Who knows where Tracy and I might pop up!
In 2008, we signed the lease for 915 E. High and began the demo work. And that “we” includes anybody who stopped by to check on us. They were handed a hammer. The musicians, local to international, those sleeping in their own beds to those sleeping in their vans, those seasoned to those nervously stepping on stage for their first open mic night, you all built The Mission as well. To every patron who walked through our doors, you were always our reason. Sharing air and space through music strengthens community.
Familiar faces remain! Paige Dow is the Bar Manager. Michael Strohl is the new owner. Keep checking back for updates regarding opening date and bands. Keep It Live in JTown!!
