First Fridays: Cultural Crossroads is happening downtown tonight, so we're doing our own small version of it behind the bar. We've got imports in from Germany, Belgium, and Poland — pick a country, pick a glass. Good excuse to travel without a passport.

Munich kicks off Oktoberfest on September 19 this year, and we're throwing our own little version of at Franklin's. Free spaetzle, pretzels, and brats while they last. Festivities begin at 2:00pm. Prost!

Lime Cucumber Gose, from Urban South out of New Orleans, cold and tart. Sour b**r, cucumber, lime — sounds like a salad until it hits your glass, and then it's the best decision you'll make all week.

Tart, crisp, ridiculously easy to drink on a day like today.

If you've spent any time on a stool here, you probably know Trey. He's headed over to manage The Downtown Tavern now, and downtown Jackson is lucky to have him.

Our loss is downtown's gain. We'll miss having him behind our bar, but we're not far from each other, and we're already talking with the Tavern about ways to team up.

Go say hi to him over there sometime — we've got a good feeling about what he's going to do with the place.

Close your eyes. You're on a beach. There's a breeze. Somewhere a steel drum is playing.

Okay, open your eyes. You're on S Shannon St. in Jackson and it's still summer-hot, but Swirlee Shnack will get you 90% of the way there. Kiwi, coconut, raspberry, and a swirl of vanilla soft serve — it's the closest thing to a tropical vacation we've got behind the bar.

..but then we'd have to wait until fall to drink them.

We're not doing that.

Westbrook's A Very Fine Amber Ale is in the cooler now, and tonight's Amp crowd has a pretty good excuse to stop by.

Everybody starts reaching for crisp la**rs this time of year.

We get it.

But every now and then, it's worth slowing things down.

Black Butte Porter has been a classic for a reason—notes of cocoa, coffee, and roasted malt without feeling heavy. It's the kind of b**r that reminds you why porters never went out of style.
