Tourney is on! Saturday, June 10. Very similar to last year's structure, schedule, and rules. Same locations for registration and dinner. More details to come!

Pert is now the solo CEO of the 2023 Trout Tournament. Sadly, I cannot make any weekend work due to coaching baseball. I am back as Pert's partner in crime next year.

Year 19 Recap!!! But before that / we are ramping up for next year…the 20th Anniversary Edition of Trout Tourney. Yes, the tourney will be on. Not sure on date.

We have a few ideas we will be implementing: live music is possible, separate youth individual prizes, and Trout Tournament branded gear folks can order.

A huge thank you to all sponsors and competitors! Special thanks to Daniel Aili from Aili Custom Concrete and Justin Lehto from Lefty’s Construction for large donations to keep the Tourney running!

The fishing:

The trout were all over the river…high water and the “long, cold winter of death” had the fish finally moving and ravenous. Water was high and the temp was cold. Several nice fish were caught - all fish reported as healthy and many chunky brookies were brought to hand.

Dan Aili and Eli Routsala took both the Brookie and Brown divisions (and Grand Champions) with 4 trout that totaled 64” A new BRTT record! Pics in next post.

Bruce V. and the crew at Hautala’s were great hosts and many thanks to Art and Sue Spets for assisting in organizing details, securing the food, setting up and tearing down.

The Tourney wouldn’t happen without Brandon Pertile who does the most running around and facilitates the yearly stocking effort.

Yo! Trout Tourney 2022 almost here. See ya Friday - even if you can’t fish Saturday - swing by after 5:00 pm, grab a raffle board spot and shoot the BS during the registration event. Same competition rules as last year. Shirts via Shirts Unlimited are arriving tomorrow.

Raffle board has the 6.5 (rif!e) and numerous other prizes: rod and reel combo, Whitecap passes, custom cribbage boards and more. Plenty of squares left!

Saturday after fishing - meet right back at Hautala’s for the classic Scotty Pecoti’s lasagna dinner with sides (including Sue Spets famous bean bake) the raffle, measuring festivities, awards and drinks. Despite Bidenflation - we have kept the entry fee ULTRA MAGA low. Fishing this contest is the best deal in the north woods!

Some pics we found in the archives to remind you who the reigning and nine time world trout champions of the universe are…for people to set goals, of course. 🤣😉

We will have 10 prizes - the 10th prize we will draw a square for will be the choot'n stick donated by Justin Lehto from Lefty Construction. Thanks Lefty!

You gotta venmo me or mail a check to get a square - we want to fill this thing up before the event! Each year thanks to your gracious donations and raffle participation - we raise a few hundred bucks to support the year's brookie stocking. If we can raise a $1,000 - that would surely make a difference for the fishery.

Hope some of y'all make it on the river!

Heads up, save the date, put er in da calendar. Trout Tourney 2022 May 21, 2022.

Gotta try it - river been low and warm last couple years; so might work nice.
