✨ The Miss Okra Strut Pageant returns to Irmo on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St., Irmo)! ✨

​Join us as 90 contestants take the stage to compete for the coveted crown. We are thrilled to welcome WLTX’s Erika Glover as our emcee for the day.

The morning competition kicks off at 10 a.m., with the afternoon competition starting at 3 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door (accepted payment is cash, Venmo, or Paypal).

Come support the contestants and be a part of this beloved community tradition! For those attending, please bring a new stuffed animal for Adaline's Animals, a community service initiative providing stuffed animals to children's homes.

Volunteers Needed for the Lexington Health Irmo Okra Strut!

The Irmo Okra Strut is almost here, and it takes a village to put on South Carolina’s favorite end-of-summer festival! We are looking for energetic volunteers, civic organizations, student groups, and community members to help make this year’s event a success.

Whether you need service hours for school, want a project for your organization, or simply love giving back to the Irmo community, we have a spot for you.

Who We Need:

✨ Student Groups & Honor Societies: High school and college clubs needing community service hours.

✨ Civic & Service Clubs: Local clubs and non-profits looking to serve together.

✨ Corporate & Local Business Teams: Great for team volunteering and community engagement.

✨ Individual Volunteers & Families: Anyone passionate about supporting our community!

Did you know the Irmo Okra Strut started with a single, massive goal?

Back in the day, the Lake Murray-Irmo Woman's Club founded the festival to raise money to build Irmo’s very first public library. Thanks to an incredible community response, the project was a success. In fact, the Strut grew so fast that the Town of Irmo eventually stepped in to manage the festival.

To honor the women who started it all and support their ongoing charitable work, one legendary rule remains unbroken:

✨ The Lake Murray-Irmo Women's Club retains the exclusive right as the SOLE provider of fried okra at the festival. ✨

While other food vendors are warmly encouraged to bring creative okra-based menu items to the festival, crispy fried okra belongs strictly to the Women's Club!

When you grab that piping hot box of golden, crispy okra at the Strut, you are not just eating the best snack in town—you are tasting a piece of Irmo history and supporting the club that made it all possible.
