The Maywood Tavern is mourning the loss of its patriach and CEO, Ralph Freund. Ralph was born on June 10, 1938 and raised in the residence attached to the tavern. He was a Union Insulator for Local # 18 for over 30 years. Ralph took over management of the Maywood Tavern after the death of his mother in 2005.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, 4:00pm-8:00pm and Tuesday, October 14, 2025, 10:00am-11:00am at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with the Funeral Service immediately following at 11:00am. Ralph will be laid to rest at the West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Indiana.

The Maywood will be hosting a celebration of life immediately following the funeral service. Food pitch ins are welcome.
