Well that was fun. We went through a bed of mussels. 1,200 lbs. in 8 hours of service. The Flemish phrase for that is “* #%!@~ # bonkers.”
We were delighted to see so many old friends. And new ones. The turnout was more than we could’ve asked for and certainly more than we deserve. You are all appreciated and we want you to know that. We are sorry / regret that we couldn’t sit down with each of you and catch up. For each guest we were unable to personally thank there was a person that suggested that we re-open. That was both extremely kind and slightly unsettling. We feel the love. We also would love to see you more often. The bottom line is this. Ted & Shannon aren’t getting any younger. They also lost badly. Opening a restaurant is a very risky proposition. We know that we sit in a somewhat less risky space in that regard as we have an existing and enthusiastic base. We worked hard for 15 years to create that. Our entire team ( and some of you - having suggested several spots) continually keep their eyes and ears open for opportunities. It really has to check ALL of the boxes for it to happen and there are a lot of boxes. They aren’t losing everything again. So if we find the perfect spot and everything falls into place, yes we might just open another version of the restaurant you all overwhelmingly showed up to support this week.
Enough about us. Twenty Tap is the best. A massive thank you to the owner, Tracy, and her husband Kevin. We love you both.
And to Smitty of Weiner Dreams and George Heslin of IFD. Smitty and Ted have always worked extremely well together and they had a blast. We hope you saw that as they sang and danced their way through those mussels with propane tanks, live fire and boiling broth. Thank you, Smitty. George is a dear family friend and bestie of our son, Hunter. He was not there in an official IFD capacity, rather on his impressive knife collection. Kidding. Well, he does have an impressive knife collection. George has worked with us in the past and brought it this week. His fire fighting skills were not required. Thank you George.
And finally
THANK YOU! YOU are the reason we might do it again. Honestly, YOU are the reason we are who we are and we are eternally grateful.
Ted, Shannon and the entire Twenty Tap and Brugge team thank you.
