Wow… that was something else.
We aren't sure if a microburst just tore through Independence Square or what, but "intense" doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Unfortunately, our tent took a direct hit—just like so many others up and down the street. While we managed to salvage a lot of our items, our tent was completely shredded, as you can see in the photos.
Following the storm damage here, Santa-Cali-Gon Days has officially been canceled for Labor Day Monday.
The best news in all of this is that nobody was hurt that we are aware of so far. We were able to get everyone inside to safety before the worst hit, and at the end of the day, that is the only thing that truly matters.
To everyone who immediately jumped in to help us wrangle mangled metal, round up scattered items, and clean up the mess on the Square—we cannot thank you enough. This community really shows up when it counts.
As for our schedule, we had already planned on being closed this Tuesday and Wednesday to give our hardworking staff a much-deserved break after the holiday weekend. With the festival now officially called off and the cleanup underway, we are going ahead and closing on Monday as well. That means we will be closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week so our team can rest, regroup, and get everything put back together.
We will be back open and ready to welcome you all on Thursday, and we really hope you will come out to see us then.
Thank you all so much for the love, check-ins, and support!
