Drink like a local! Maxwell’s Silver Hammer is our ode to Ernest Maxwell, who, along with his wife Betty Maxwell, founded the Town Crier in 1946.

He was a conservationist, writer, hiker, cartoonist, artist, and local pioneer. Until his death in 1994, he was unquestionably one of Idyllwild’s dominant personalities. His legacy is memorialized in the Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail and through the continuing legacy of our local paper, which is now complimentary right here at FERRO!
