🌭🍺 APPARENTLY ONE WEEKEND SPECIAL WASN’T ENOUGH.

The Captains have been busy.

Football season has arrived. Oktoberfest season is underway. And somewhere along the way, the Oak Bay kitchen got a little carried away. 😂

So this weekend, you’ve got THREE missions to choose from:

🏈 THE PITTSBURGH PILE-ON — $10

Our first FIRST & TEN opponent-inspired creation!

A ¼-lb Nathan’s dog piled high with melted provolone, tangy vinegar slaw, fresh tomato, crispy potatoes and spicy brown mustard.

Pittsburgh on a bun. 🌭💥

⚓🇩🇪 B**R BRATOBERFEST — $14

A hearty bratwurst topped with grilled onions and Düsseldorf mustard, served with a warm Bavarian pretzel and honey mustard.

Captain Oktoberfestus von Hoppenstein would approve.

Probably twice. 🍺

🌭🥨 DOGTOBERFEST — $14

Sometimes you just want the classics.

Our ¼-lb Bailey dog, dressed with the condiments of your choice and paired with a warm Bavarian pretzel.

Simple. Delicious. And enough food to make your $14 work pretty darn hard.

So what’s your weekend looking like?

🏈 Feeling competitive? Pile-On.
🇩🇪 Feeling Oktoberfest? BratOberFest.
🌭 Feeling classic? DogtOberFest.

Or there’s always the highly respected fourth option…

Come hungry and work your way through all three. 😂🍺

THREE SPECIALS. ONE WEEKEND.

Available TODAY through SUNDAY at Oak Bay Brewery.

📍 606 Main Street • Hyannis. See you soon! 🍻🌭🥨 **r

🏈🌭 FIRST & TEN: THE FIRST OPPONENT HAS ARRIVED.

Yesterday we told you Pittsburgh was coming to Oak Bay.

Tomorrow … we put Pittsburgh on a bun. 😂

Introducing:

🌭 THE PITTSBURGH PILE-UP — $10

We started with our ¼-lb Nathan’s all-beef dog on a grilled roll and gave it the full Steel City treatment:

🧀 Melted provolone
🥬 Tangy vinegar slaw
🍅 Fresh tomato
🥔 A completely unreasonable pile of crispy potato sticks
🌭 Spicy brown mustard

Why the slaw, tomato and potato sticks?

Because one of Pittsburgh’s most famous food traditions is piling coleslaw, tomato and potatoes right onto the sandwich.

Naturally, we looked at that and thought…

“Yeah. We can do that to a hot dog.” 😂

And thus, The Pittsburgh Pile-Up was born.

But remember the rules of FIRST & TEN:

The Patriots get a new opponent every week.

So does your appetite.

Your assignment this weekend is simple:

EAT PITTSBURGH. 🌭💥

We’ll let the Patriots handle the rest on Sunday. 🏈😉

THE PITTSBURGH PILE-UP — $10
Available Friday through Sunday at Oak Bay Brewery.

Next week?

New opponent. New wiener. Same $10.

EVER WONDER WHAT’S ACTUALLY IN OUR LOGO?

It isn’t just a bridge we thought looked cool.

That’s the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge — the iconic vertical-lift bridge spanning the Canal near Buzzards Bay.

And there’s a reason it’s part of Oak Bay Brewery.

Long before we opened our doors in Hyannis, the original location where we attempted to build Oak Bay sat with this bridge practically in its backyard.

That plan didn’t work out…
but the bridge came with us. 🍺

And we’re pretty glad it did, because the more you learn about it, the cooler it gets.

Construction began in 1933, during the Great Depression, and the first train crossed the new bridge in December 1935. At the time it was built, its 544-foot center span was the longest vertical-lift span in the world.

That center section weighs roughly 2,200 tons, yet massive counterweights allow the entire span to be lowered for a train in about 2½ minutes. When there isn’t a train crossing, the bridge normally stays raised about 135 feet above the water, allowing vessels to travel through the Canal below.

More than 90 years later, trains are still crossing it.

So what started as the view behind a brewery that never happened became a permanent part of the brewery that eventually did.

A little Cape Cod history hiding right there in the Oak Bay logo. **r

🏈🌭 INTRODUCING FIRST & TEN! 🌭🏈

The Patriots have a new opponent every week…

So does your appetite.

Starting this Friday, Oak Bay is kicking off a season-long hot dog showdown:

🏈 FIRST & TEN

One opponent. One specialty dog. $10.

Every Friday, we’ll unveil a brand-new hot dog inspired by the city or state of the Patriots’ upcoming opponent.

And then it’s up to YOU to do your part.

Because the Patriots will be battling them on Sunday…

YOU’LL BE SMASHING MOUTH ALL WEEKEND. 🌭💥😂

Eat the dog.
Destroy the dog.
Leave absolutely nothing but the wrapper.

Then on Sunday, the Patriots can take it from there. 😉

NEW OPPONENT.
NEW WIENER.
$10 EVERY WEEK.

First up…

🏴‍☠️ PITTSBURGH.

What kind of Pittsburgh-inspired monster do you think we’re putting on the bun?

Drop your predictions below. 👇

FIRST & TEN starts this Friday at Oak Bay Brewery.

Let the games begin! 🍻🌭🍻🌭 &ten

🍺 WE’RE BACK TOMORROW… AND SO IS EL ZAPPARADO.

If you haven’t tried this NEIPA yet, now’s your chance.

El Zapparado is one of those b**rs we’ve been especially excited to pour — a hazy, juicy NEIPA featuring Zappa hops, a variety you don’t exactly run into on every tap list.

We paired Zappa with El Dorado and Azacca to build a b**r loaded with juicy tropical fruit, citrus and plenty of hop character — all wrapped up in that soft, hazy NEIPA body we were after.

And yes… Zappa hops really are named in honor of Frank Zappa. 🎸

So if you’re a hop nerd looking to finally try Zappa…

Or you’re just someone who couldn’t care less what hop is in your b**r and simply wants a really good hazy IPA…

We’ve got you covered. 🍺

Oak Bay is back open tomorrow, the taps are ready, and El Zapparado is waiting.

Come see what all the Zappa is about. 🎸🍺

🍺 THE FIRST POUR GETS ALL THE ATTENTION… BUT WHAT ABOUT THE LAST ONE?

The Oak Bay Tank-to-Glass Series continues.

Somewhere right now, a lonely keg is getting emptier. And as it gets emptier, something else is happening inside it:

The headspace is getting bigger.

At Oak Bay, our b**r never knows that feeling. 😎

Our six Paul Mueller Serving B**r Tanks use a food-grade liner that actually collapses around the b**r as every pint is poured.

So if there’s 100 gallons of b**r in the tank… the liner surrounds 100 gallons.

50 gallons left? It surrounds 50.

Down to the final few pours?

Still surrounded. Still protected.

There isn’t an ever-growing headspace above the b**r that needs to be filled with additional CO₂ to keep pushing it toward the tap.

Instead, compressed air is applied outside the liner, pressurized the tank. It squeezes the liner gently, moving the b**r to your glass without that air ever touching the b**r.

🍺 For the casual b**r drinker:

That means our goal is incredibly simple:

Your last pour from the tank should be every bit as fresh and identical as the first.

🔬 For our fellow b**r nerds:

No increasing headspace as the tank empties.
No dispense gas contacting the b**r.
No changing gas-to-liquid volume inside the liner.
And no need to continually introduce CO₂ into the b**r’s environment just to get it to the faucet.

The b**r remains inside its own protected, collapsing package from the first pour to the last.

And that’s a big deal to us.

Because we can obsess over water chemistry, yeast health, fermentation temperatures, hop schedules and conditioning for weeks…

…but none of that matters if we stop protecting the b**r during the last few feet of its journey.

First pour. Last pour. Same b**r. Same protected environment.

🍺 Brewery → Tank → Tap → Glass.

Just another reason we chose to do things a little differently at Oak Bay Brewery.

BREAKING NEWS: The Cape Todd has taken over the bar!
Apparently, when it rains on Cape Cod, somebody’s gotta put that water to good use. 😂
So while it’s busy pouring on the Cape… we’ll also be pouring b**r ALL DAY! 🍺
Don’t let a little rain keep you home. Come on in, dry off, grab a cold one, a brat and Bavarian pretzel and let us handle the important stuff.
Rain outside. B**r inside. Sounds like a pretty good deal to us. 🍻

🍺 YOU’VE HAD A NEIPA. BUT HAVE YOU HAD A ZAPPA NEIPA?

We’re guessing the answer for most people is no.

And that’s exactly why we brewed this one.

Meet EL ZAPPARADO, the newest NEIPA from Oak Bay Brewery — built around one of the more unusual hops we’ve ever put into a b**r:

Zappa® hops.

Yes. That Zappa. 🎸

The hop was named in honor of legendary musician Frank Zappa — but the story behind it is even more interesting than the name.

Zappa traces its roots to Neomexicanus hops from the mountains of New Mexico — a distinctly American hop lineage that developed separately from the traditional European hops that eventually became the foundation of most modern brewing varieties. Hop researcher Todd Bates began collecting wild Neomexicanus plants in New Mexico in the 1990s and selectively breeding them. One of those breeding lines would eventually become the hop we now know as Zappa.

And Bates didn’t choose the name randomly.

He was a huge Frank Zappa fan and wanted to honor a great American musician with a great American hop.

The hop is every bit as unconventional as its namesake.

Even the people who grow it have a hard time describing it with the usual hop vocabulary.

Passion fruit. Juicy mango. Orange citrus. White pepper. Subtle mint.

Other descriptions over the years have gotten even stranger:

Spice. Pine. Savory. Fruity Pebbles. Even...“purple.” 😂 See you soon! 🍻🌭🍻🌭 **r

⚓🍺 A HISTORIC AGREEMENT HAS BEEN REACHED. 🌭🥨

For weeks, Captain Glizzarius Augustus Weineraunt and Captain Oktoberfestus von Hoppenstein have disagreed on one very important matter.

Glizzarius insists the wiener is mankind’s greatest culinary achievement. 🌭

Oktoberfestus maintains that no proper celebration can exist without a Bavarian pretzel and a great b**r. 🍺🥨

After lengthy negotiations, several pints, and what witnesses describe as “an unreasonable amount of sausage,” the two Captains have finally reached an agreement.

Introducing...

⚓ THE BRATOBERFEST COMBO — $20 ⚓

🌭 Bratwurst
🥨 Bavarian Pretzel
🍺 14 oz Full Pour — b**r of your choice

All three. $20.

Glizzarius gets his sausage.

Oktoberfestus gets his pretzel and b**r.

You get the deal. 😂

According to recently discovered Oak Bay maritime records*, the Captains immediately declared the agreement:

“The greatest achievement in Cape Cod-German relations since someone decided b**r and bratwurst belonged together.”

And frankly, we’re not going to argue with them.

So this weekend, grab a BratOberFest Combo, raise a glass with the Captains and help us continue celebrating Oktoberfest approximately one month earlier than anyone asked us to. 🍻

Because as Captain Oktoberfestus has been reminding us...

“Why wait for October when September already has b**r?”
