The sign from a year ago never gets old, nor ceases to give me a chuckle as it says half past rather than halfway. Yesterday, being my birthday, especially, if I am now over the hill when was I ever under hill?? 🤣

Happy Half-Way to St. Patrick’s Day weekend from me, Renburke's Rovers and The Rising Pints; here’s a little something from the video archive to set the mood: St. Patrick’s Day 1997 with Brian Cullen, William Matheny & the rest of the Pints. Fabrice Chotin, is that you belting out a most appropriate “Wahoo!” at the start??

Ok, I have some big news to share, exactly 6 months from today I will board a plane for Japan for the first time in a quarter century to reunite with my brothers from others mothers from The Rising Pints, Brian Cullen and William Matheny and perform on St. Patrick’s Day.

Here’s an appropriately inappropriate preview, starting with “I Fall Apart”, a song William “wrote before I was born” and including synchronized head snaps by Brian & I, and cigarette nose fancy dancer. Keepin’ it classy.

Every musician has different ways they define achieving professional success. For me, singing for a 93-year old Irish woman who smiles and sings along with songs she learned as a child is near the top of my list.

Almost exactly 15 years ago on a hot August afternoon very much like today an inspiring interview and remarkable performance by Marc Douglas Berardo was filmed at this now abandoned restaurant/general store that was named Stoggy Holly for my first documentary.

You can watch the short film here https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLBrf5CLgKXxUiAhfwllRLJwGbXOXNwrc&si=ltjCJCJiwi3I2l9d which ends with Marc’s performance as well as his full interview here: https://youtu.be/9EYUvEG-6Fc?si=3ywy16n7YNx12Pik

Here are my four favorite private Irish clubs in New England. These all have wonderful family oriented pubs attached to them and are great places to gather, learn a bit about Irish heritage and culture, have a pint or your favorite libation and of course, hear some great live Irish music. Even if you aren’t of Irish heritage or aren’t interested in joining as a member, I encourage you to visit sometime as a guest of a member, and you won’t regret the experience. The Worcester club has a pub named Fiddlers Green that is actually open to the public. The others you can visit by either signing the guestbook, or being a guest of a member and paying a small cover charge. Here are these four in no particular order:

Glastonbury, Irish American Home Society

Ancient order of the Hibernians (AOH) / Fiddler’s Green, Worcester, MA

Sons of Erin Westfield, MA

Sons of Erin Cape Cod

(and also when on the Cape, be sure to stop by The Emerald Resort/Cape Cod Irish Village pub, also a public venue - and on your way back, stop in to The Tinker's Son in Norwell, MA!)

Enjoy the summer, and congratulations to all recent graduates and soon-to-be grads! 😊☘️🪕🎓
