đźš’FIRE PREVENTION PARADE SET FOR OCT. 9đźš’

The annual Huntington Fire Prevention Parade will take place in downtown Huntington at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9. Do you plan on going or want to participate? Here's everything you need to know:

PARKING: "No parking between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m." will be posted on 4th Avenue between 7th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard.

ROAD CLOSURES: 4th Avenue between 7th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard will be closed from 5 to no later than 10 p.m.

PARADE LINEUP: Parade participants will be asked to line up beginning at 5:45 p.m. between 12th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard.

PARADE ROUTE: The parade will begin at 7 p.m. at 12th Street and 4th Avenue and proceed west on 4th Avenue to 8th Street.

THEME: The theme of this year's parade is “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention.”

RULES: In the interest of safety, parade participants will be prohibited from throwing candy. However, a representative for each parade participant will be allowed to walk along the sides of the street and hand out candy to children.

HOW TO BECOME A PARTICIPANT: Parade registration forms are available at www.cityofhuntington.com/document-center/fire-department. Completed forms can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at HFD Centennial Station 1, located at 839 7th Ave., during regular business hours. Scratch's lunch menu this week, baked pork chops with gravy with mashed potatoes and green beans or corn, BBQ's with slaw,Filet Burgers, Hot Ham and Cheese, Club Sandwich, BLT, Grilled Chicken Wrap, Quesadillas (Cheeseburger, Pizza, Buffalo Chicken, steak and cheese, Chicken Alfredo, BBQ or chicken bacon ranch, anti pasta salad, chef salad, grilled chicken and for dessert lemon & brown sugar cakes.
