Digg's Digg’s Restaurant & Bar is a new international fusion concept for an area rich with a variety of dining experiences, but none quite like ours.

To complement Digg’s modern-industrial design, we’ve worked to craft a distinctive menu with a contemporary American style, focusing on seasonal and ingredient-driven dishes. The concept was derived by owner Phil Mack Chung, his father Hank – a 30-year restaurant veteran – and Chung’s friend and Executive Chef, Jeff Dickson. Between each of their individual tastes and travels, the menu could not b

e limited to one culinary style. From the islands of Hawaii to the fisheries of Alaska to the cultures across Asia, Digg’s combines various culinary traditions and regions into one unique dining experience. After moving to Huntington Beach from Lake Tahoe to help his dad during an illness, Chung was inspired by the people and dining options in the area and wanted to carry on his family tradition in this environment. He studied not only the waves, but the local culture in order to marry the relaxed style of Surf City with the grandeur of global cuisine.

“I wanted to build a restaurant that represented me, the people in my life and HB,” Chung said. “Laid back, healthy, great music, drinks and amazing, unique food. Everything you dig is at Digg’s.”

Trying to use all his resources to make it happen, Chung was able to pull together a skilled slew of friends to handle everything from carpentry and painting, to running the kitchen and bar. With the skills and knowledge acquired from his parents and the help of numerous friends, old and new, what started out as a dream soon became a reality. Longtime friend, Dion Grant, teamed up with Chung to design and build out the restaurant interior, from constructing the waterfall and VIP booth, to wiring, and installing countertops. Later on, Dickson moved to town, helped author the menu and now runs the kitchen; having cooked in fine dining establishments all over the country including Anchorage, Phoenix and Lahaina, HI. A humble and grateful Chung gives all the credit to his friends, saying it should be called “Dion’s” and that Dickson was the finishing piece to the puzzle. The trio and a handful of other friends combined various skills, trades and an eagerness to help in order to complete every detail. They even surveyed the area to decide on the name, unsure of whether it would translate over from how they used the term growing up – which basically means all the things you love in one place: ‘these are my digs’ as they say. We invite you to share our vision of creating an elegant yet welcoming restaurant for customers to enjoy global cuisine with a Digg’s twist. Our atmosphere is casual but classy with a festive ambiance and we pride ourselves on serving inventive, health-conscious and delicious dishes made from quality ingredients. Indulge yourself with prime steak, fresh seafood, mouth-watering sides and decadent desserts. Whether you’re looking for a great steak and glass of wine, or a gourmet burger and a beer … take your pick, Digg’s has something for everyone.
