Above we see two sets of “matched” injectors. One set is brand “F’d” and true to their marketing slogan, they are “Everywhere” The other set is ID1750XDS and it is quite clear they have actually been matched by measuring their output. The graph above is pulsewidth in milliseconds left to right and Volume in cc/min up and down. The variation in flow for the F’d injectors is 7% which in terms of air fuel ratio, if our goal was 12.5:1 for a gasoline application would result in a spread of 12.06-12.95:1 air fuel ratio cylinder to cylinder. For the ID the spread is approximately 1.4% which again would result in an air fuel ratio range around a 12.5 aim of 12.41 to 12.58:1 air fuel ratio cylinder to cylinder. As for the Myth that you can just “tune around it” with cylinder trims, that is true only if you know the variance to start with (have the injectors tested) and only run 1 pulsewidth over the entire operating range of the engine. Otherwise, you will need a different percentage of pulsewidth change for every operating point. But how many engine parts you will need to replace with the money you saved not buying matched injectors from someone who placed engineering quality above marketing
