Plate and Bottle has new craft beers for beer lovers. Start light with the Luchesa Lager. It is enchanting, ethereal and fleeting. Brewed in the traditional Kellerbier style, it has subtle malt notes married with Hallertau and Saaz hops. Also light is the Stillwater Artisanal well suited for those into refreshing but frothy tastes. Move onto a darker lager brewed right here in Houston with the Karbach Mother In Lager. Made with dark malts and German hops, this brew's depth of flavor will allow you to relax and unwind from a stressful day. And lastly, try the ALT Eration. Certainly not the darkest brew on the market but enough to satisfy those into more challenging ales.

This last week several articles emerged about the health benefits of drinking Champagne up to three glasses a week. It supposedly can prevent the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Whether this is true or not it certainly doesn't hurt to ring in the Holiday season with a few glasses of your favorite bubbly. At Plate and Bottle we currently offer a great new Champagne by Paul Goerg. And if you have never tried a sparkling Vouvray, try our recent acquisition from Domaine d'Orteuilles. If Cremant is your desire the Faire La Fete from Limoux will satisfy your every craving for a cool and refreshing liquid retreat.

Try out some of our new reds that just came in this week. Pura 8 has an excellent Carmenere Reserve from Chile with intense flavors of plum, chocolate, mocha and spice. The 12 month aging process in French oak barrels results in a balanced wine with ripe tannins. This wine is a perfect match for spicy foods and mild cheeses. The Polkadraai from Stellenbosch Hills is a blend of pinotage and merlot made in the earthy vineyards of South Africa. It is bold and full bodied. If you are a pinotage lover this will be hard to surpass. La Porta Primitivo is also a lush, full-bodied wine that captures the eye with its deep ruby color. Matched with velvety tannins, balanced by refreshing acidity, it will leave you and your palate awaiting the next sip.
