It is with a heavy heart that I inform you we have closed permanently. Houston has been our home since May of 2005 and we would not have been able to do that without your continued support over the last almost 17 years.

You all have become family to us. We have been there for so many milestones... we've had the pleasure of witnessing first dates, proposals, marriages, pregnancy announcements, birthdays, first day on the job celebrations, retirement parties... We've been able to celebrate with you, laugh with you, and cry with you.

We wish you all the best in all future endeavors! Just know we will always remember the wonderful memories! We won't say goodbye... We'll say see you later 😊

Feel free to leave messages or stories or anything you want to share. I know we will love reminiscing with you all!

And keep following this page... you never know... maybe we'll do a pop up event somewhere 😊😊 I know there are catering possibilities in the near future. So stay tuned as we close one door and open another!!

While we respect the choices of others, we disagree with the governor's removal of the mask mandate. We decided as a business to uphold the mask mandate until our staff is allowed to receive the vaccine. Currently restaurant employees are not considered essential enough to qualify for the vaccine.

We will continue to operate at 50% capacity while continuing to require masks to enter our establishment. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Thank you for your continued support in these uncertain times!

Good morning Facebook family!! We are happy to announce we will be opening our dining room this upcoming Tuesday on June 2nd!! We are still offering carryout and delivery as well!

We are taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

*Masks are not required for our patrons, but our employees will be wearing masks. They will not however be wearing gloves as we believe there is more cross contamination with gloves. They will be required to wash their hands vigorously every 15 minutes.

*We will have paper menus so that they can be disposed of after each guest. If you would like, you can also take them home to use as take-out menus.

*Surfaces that encounter contact will be sanitized every 15 minutes. Tables will be spaced out to maintain social distancing and will be sanitized for the required amount of time before seating the next guest.

*The bar side will be closed off for the time being as we would like to focus on just one side of the restaurant and are minimally staffed. But we still have a stocked bar and can make adult beverages! 😊

Thank you all so much for the added support these last few months!!! We appreciate it more than we know how to express!! It is because of all of you we were able to navigate through these unconventional times we are facing as a whole!

As we near the end of our 3rd week of doing only carry out and delivery, we wanted to take the time to thank everyone for their support! It's been a rough couple of weeks but we will keep at it and continue to provide our wonderful city with good eats and some homemade comfort foods straight from various regions of China and Taiwan! Our "off the menu" menu items are still available! We have attached a couple of pictures if anyone is curious what a dish looks like! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or requests and if we have the items to prepare it, we will definitely try to make it for you!

We wanted to take the time to thank everyone for their ongoing support!! And for everyone who has shared our post and spread our menu by word of mouth!! We have sold out of the pork and vegetable wontons right now BUT we are making more today that will be ready in a few hours!!

We currently are offering some off menu items! Something different and a bit more traditional and authentic Chinese dishes! We are preparing different items daily so please call in advance and we will definitely try to make sure we save one for you! In addition to the menu attached to this post, we are also offering the following items:

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, our economy as a nation has taken a hit. It's no one's fault, but first and foremost, we need to ensure we are all safe and healthy. Small businesses all over are struggling and we are doing everything we can to stay afloat. Yao Restaurant has been serving the Westchase community for almost 15 years, and my family has been running it for almost a decade now. We have always appreciated our community and all the friends we have made along the way. Please help us stay in the wonderful city we call home.

Due to the citywide regulation urging the closing of dine in service for restaurants, we will still be open for carryout and delivery. Please contact us at 832-251-2588 and we will take care of you. If you would like to order online, we are also partnered with Beyondmenu, Eatstreet, Grubhub, Doordash, Favor, and Postmates.

Our restaurant hours have changed. Our new hours are as follows:
Monday Closed
Tuesday - Friday 11am to 10pm
Saturday & Sunday 12pm to 10pm

Today news has spread that a beloved First Lady has passed... She has been a long standing Houston icon for the last few decades and will continue to be one for generations to come. Her dedication to bettering our world has been widespread. Our prayers are with the Bush Family as well as all the other lives First Lady Barbara Bush has touched. President George Bush Sr. and First Lady Barbara Bush have been patrons of Yao Restaurant for over 12 years. Our hearts are with the Bush Family. First Lady Barbara Bush, you will surely be missed.
