WE’RE TURNING 10 YEARS OLD and that’s a big ass deal!!! And now, we get to say thank you to the real ones for continuing to support us from the jump. This lil place in Montrose has always been where y’all let our freak fly and our bad puns go unPUNished, and we’ll never forget that.

So it’s time to vote to bring back your favorites from the dead for almost all of November. From now until the end of October, leave a comment of each one of your favorites from each our four categories, and we’ll do our best to resurrect the most popular ones next month.

Baywatch lifeguards were on duty this weekend for Southern Smoke Foundation!!! We kept watch over the entire city and filled y’all with dill donuts, olive oil cake, and Negroni Jell-O shots. Big ups to those who bravely swam under our porrón fountain of fun.

Thank you again to Chris Shepherd and Lindsey Folger Brown for building a team and organization that make this event so incredibly celebratory every year. Real talk, we have personally witnessed people in a time of need benefit from this foundation’s resources. It’s real, and it’s every bit as meaningful thanks to every ticket purchased and every donation made throughout the year.

While My Za'atar Gently Weeps is hardly subtle about striking all the right notes to keep things bright and cool while it's still hot out. Endive and snow peas are all about the crunch, sambal strawberries bring a lil sweet and spicy drama, dill yogurt shows up to smooth things over, and the za'atar spices with the charred citrus vinaigrette torch the whole thing on the way out like the last chord of a guitar solo nobody asked for, but everyone needed.

I look at the plate, see the herbs that are sleeping
While my zaatar gently weeps
I look at the bowl and I see strawberries steeping

Pie Lord Ethan Morgan has announced a new one for tonight for the PSL season for those who observe the spices of fall weather, even if Houston’s always feigning cooler days. Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie in a gingersnap crust, drizzled with salted caramel. The other pies for tonight will are black bottom cookies ‘n’ cream along with birthday cake!

A constant on our menu? Vegetables. As the goddamn star. And this dish? It’s so good, you’ll be dreaming of cauli-fornication. Pan-seared cauliflower served over brown butter caper aioli, topped with jalapeño, mint gremolata, and dried tomato.
