It can uplift soldiers and assuage the hurt that we all sometimes feel inside. Our voices are a beacon in the darkness for not only ourselves, but for the multitude. It is our hope that you will help us fund a café that mixes my passion of cooking food that heals the soul, and giving voice to those who have lost their way. The idea of this club came about due to the death of my Sister Jamika Wi
lliams. She was among many things a lover of people, a lover of music, and a lover of poetry. Unfortunately she is not with us to see the dream come true. Her voice was taken from her through an act of domestic violence, and we want to open a venue where those who are dealing with all types of problems can feel welcomed. There will be resources to get help, as well as express themselves in a safe non-destructive format. It will be a place to relax and let the world go for the time that they are there. A portion of the money we make will go to charities that support the eradication of domestic violence and the support of those who have survived it. We have found the building here in Mid-Town Houston Texas, which will give us everything we need to house this project. It will be a multicultural center that will be a home for everyone regardless of who they are. Everyone should have the chance to voice what’s inside of him or her. This café will have nightly performances that give people an outlet and chance to be heard. The café will provide food that not only nourishes the body but also nourishes the soul. There will be live music, open mic nights, poetry slams, and themed parties. Every week will bring something new whether it is new feelings, new information, or new friends. The stage will be set for anyone who wants to put it all out there for everyone to hear, and leave it on the stage. The lights will be on you, and if you’re a beginner don’t be afraid. The café is a place of encouragement and love. If you’re a pro then show us what you have! We’re all ears!
