The Culture Palette is a relaxed, friendly retreat for artists, musicians and all creatives seeking the time, space and gorgeous setting to pursue their passions! Situated in the tranquil lakeside town of Hopatcong NJ, our retreat consists of several rooms, studios and self-contained apartments arranged in a quiet compound around a central house, 'Hippie Haven'. The surrounding countryside is teem
ing with wildlife, including hummingbirds, deer, squirrels, butterflies, foxes, chipmunks and the occasional black bear! Come to breathe, unwind, and immerse yourself in creative work, and choose as much or as little interaction with the proprietors and fellow resident artists as you like. As well as use of music rehearsal facilities equipped with drums, keyboards, guitars and amplifier equipment, there are cooking, crafting and language lessons available. Communal meals and social music jamming sessions are a regular ocurrence if you'd like to meet other artists, talk about your work and learn from others. The Culture Palette is just over an hour away from New York City by car, with a regular bus service operating nearby. Lake Hopatcong is only a few minutes' drive, along with stores, restaurants and other local conveniences. The retreat is hosted by Mercedes Walker, who was had a long and diverse career spanning music, TV, film, cookery, cultural anthropology, ESL teaching and even a university professorship!
