Nerd Nite is always on the lookout for new speakers to present at our events! If you think you or someone you know would make a great Nerd Nite speaker, keep reading. Criteria:
To speak at Nerd Nite you should have already attended at least one event and have the three following things going for you:
1. An interesting or unusual subject that you are very knowledgeable about
2. A passion for sharing this subject
3. A facility with public speaking
Topics:
A Nerd Nite talk can be about almost anything. The main thing to remember is that the environment is casual and fun. You can talk about serious subjects but it should be interesting and engaging to a lay audience. Some real-life examples include bending metal, dancing your PhD, urban birding, and even f***l transplants. But there are a few rules of thumb. The biggest one is that the talk should, with few exceptions, not be about you. It can share your perspective but the focus should be on a specific topic. The final decision is at the discretion of the hosts. We apologize if we can’t accomodate every talk. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected]
