Monsoon moisture will increase Friday through Labor Day weekend...keeping the weather picture active over southern and eastern Colorado. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected Friday afternoon and evening...with the best chance of storms over the far southern and southeast counties...where a few strong storms could develop...producing small hail and wind gusts to 50 mph. Locally heavy rain over burn scars during the weekend could also raise the risk of flash flooding. Look for warmer than average temperatures Friday...followed by slightly cooler than average temperatures over the weekend and Monday.

Another round of thunderstorms is expected this afternoon and evening as the next upper disturbance lifts across southern Colorado. The main threats will be locally heavy rainfall, lightning, 60 mph wind gusts and 1 inch diameter hail. The strongest storms are expected over the southern half of the Eastern Plains. Flash flooding will remain a threat on area burn scars. Temperatures will be cooler today with 70s to lower 80s for highs.

Scattered thunderstorms will develop over the mountains this afternoon, then push across interior valleys, the I-25 corridor and the southeast plains late in day and through the evening. A few severe storms will be possible on the plains, with winds up to 60 mph and hail the size of quarters. Locally heavy rainfall will also occur with storms today, and flash flooding may occur, especially over and near recent burn scars.

Less than 2 months away! Holly Gateway Classics will have Main Street lined with classic cars from across the region. The Fulton Street Band will be performing some of their newly released music. Food vendors will be there to fill your bellies while you shop from local business and craft vendors. Enjoy a beer from the beer garden provided by the Holly Volunteer Fire Dept. and join in on the corn-hole tournament brought to you by the Holly Commercial Club. Don't forget the kids - the Holly Fun Club will have several fun things for them to do and the Kiowa County Sheriff Dept. will have the rock wall there for them to conquer.

The Holly Volunteer Fire Department will have a beer garden at the Gateway Classics Car Show and Concert. Proceeds from the beer garden will go toward training and equipment for the department. Main Street in Holly Colorado will be the place to be on Saturday, September 29, 2018. We look forward to seeing you there!

Look for more thunderstorms over southern and eastern Colorado Tuesday and Wednesday...some of which could be severe ...producing large hail and damaging winds. Temperatures will be cooler than average both days.
