Bear's Den Proudly fueling your travels and serving fresh family favorites since 1953. Bear’s Den is a well known family business on the St. During the St.

Regis Mohawk Indian Reservation at Akwesasne. Established in 1953 by Theresa Lazore Guthrie, Matriarch of the Tarbell family, and affectionately known by many as Theresa Bear, she started her business with two gas pumps and a small craft shop. Lawrence Seaway Development Project, she ran a boarding house and a snack bar selling burgers and pizzas. Theresa instilled in her family an ethic of hard work and determination to achieve success. Her strong will and entrepreneurial spirit was inherited from her parents, Eli and Violet Lazore, and has now passed on to four generations. Today, Bear’s Den has grown to a full-service fuel station offering all blends of gasoline and distillate products, touchless car wash center, a family restaurant serving home style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, featuring the area’s best home made pies and desserts. The Native American themed retail store showcases Native handmade products and gifts including moccasins, blankets, baskets, jewelry, books, music and souvenirs.

Starting this Thursday, Bear's Den Convenience Stores will be offering locally designed Every Child Matters t-shirts and tumblers for purchase.

We are proud to feature artwork created by Karley Cree, whose design helps tell an important story of remembrance, resilience, and hope for future generations.

A portion of the proceeds from every sale will benefit the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club and the Akwesasne Freedom School, supporting programs that empower and enrich the lives of local children and youth.

One of the biggest pieces of feedback we received was: "Why are there so few vendor spots?"

We listened! Due to the overwhelming interest, we've expanded the event and now have space for 12 vendors to participate.
