Tango Prohibido Delaware Tango Community

Tango Prohibido Delaware Tango Community Argentine tango community, Delaware. Local classes + trips to milongas (social dances). ABOUT ARGENTINE TANGO
The exact origins of tango are uncertain.

ARGENTINE TANGO DELAWARE offers social dancing at our monthly milonga and lessons in tango and its sister dances (milonga and vals). We are a community of Argentine tango dancers promoting social Argentine tango (completely different from ballroom-style Argentine tango) in Delaware. In the early 1900s, the dance and music developed together in the social cauldrons of port cities Montevideo and Bue

nos Aires, where fortune-seeking immigrants from all over Europe rubbed shoulders with native South Americans and African slaves. Most of the immigrants were men—competition for women was fierce—and it was in this lonely and desperate environment that they developed the intimate, elegant and seductive tango, practicing and refining it so that when they went to a milonga—a social dance—some woman—any woman—would be enticed to dance with them. This is a dance—or style of dance—like no other. More tender than ballroom, more subtle than salsa, it is absolutely beautiful, and habit-forming. We currently hold a monthly milonga and offer private instruction as well. Group lessons occur sporadically. If you are interested in tango, would like to be on our email list and/or have any questions, please send us a message! Abby & André
