WHO WE ARE:
The Sunset Bar is a Veteran Owned, local dive bar located in Highlands, TX. We LOVE OUR GREAT NATION and those who serve (Police, Fire, Armed Services, etc). We Love Good Causes and doing things to support our local community (not just any Tom, Dick & Harry thing but verified!). Where everyone becomes Family! A LITTLE BIT OF OUR HISTORY:
As the story goes……. Some think we were orig

inally established either in the late 40’s or 50’s as a drive up liquor store physically located on the San Jacinto River banks (we are still trying to track the facts down). Rumor has it the river bank started giving way so the building was physically moved to its current location. When you walk in thru the front door you can still see the original pass thru window. Throughout the years we have had a variety of history… We have been told at one point we have had a full size piano bar owned and operated by a Firefighter and his wife out of the Houston area. Rumor is the gentleman played the heck out of a variety of instruments. We have also been told by some of our Ole’ Timers at some point we were a little BBQ joint. In the 70’s & early 80’s we have been named “Gladace’s Place” and “Herman’s Bar” (note Herman’s was from a Gent who named it in honor of a parrot the family lost). Estimated mid to late 80’s a wonderful family named us The Sunset and we have honored it ever since. ENTERTAINMENT:
We feature 2 electronic dart boards, a jukebox, an old 45, 2 Mega Machines and lots of fish tales. Again we are a small location, sorry no pool tables. We love watching sports (NASCAR, NFL, Basketball and Baseball). We have a covered and enclosed patio with 3 picnic tables and a few more outdoor picnic tables. Our drink menu has variety of domestic and premium beers, wine coolers, Zinfandel, soda, water, V-8 juice or set ups. CODE OF CONDUCT:
We cater to a variety of friends and family… Though we ask people to be respectful when ladies are present (limited shop talk ~ aka: profanity). We are a “No Drama” location!
