The Eggs Nest

The Eggs Nest A must-see destination for locals and travelers alike. NOW OPEN! It transformed into a private residence and then a small country pub know as Ed and Fran's.
(637)

The Egg's Nest was established in 1973 and is a family-owned community hub in High Falls, NY, with a full bar, outdoor patio, eclectic decor and diverse menu that highlights local farms/purveyors. The Egg's Nest building dates back to the 1800's with its spiritual beginnings as a Parsonage for the Reformed Dutch Church of Clove (now The High Falls Community Church). Richard G. Murphy purchased the

building in '73 and established The Egg's Nest. It was purchased in the Fall of 2016 by Cristina and Eric Silver.

Though this marks the end of this particular chapter in its 50 year story, it is our hope that what we are leaving behind will find itself in someone else’s capable hands so that the colorful history and legacy of The Egg’s Nest will live on. It is with great sadness that we must announce that we will be ceasing the day to day operations of The Egg’s Nest effective immediately.

What was meant to be a spring break to hit the reset button brought unexpected and upsetting news related to my health that requires immediate medical attention.

Doing whatever it takes to ensure that I can be around for as long as possible to be a loving husband and father is my number one priority right now. That said, I can no longer run the restaurant at this time given my current health condition.

We thank you for the love and support that you have shown us through all of these years and to Richard Murphy and Gillian for passing the baton and entrusting it to us. This place was never just a restaurant. I don’t have to tell you that The Egg’s Nest is a very special place. Being the owner and operator of this establishment has been one of the great sources of pride in my life. It has been our life and our livelihood. It brought us back home to be close to our families once again and it will forever hold a dear place in our hearts. We began our own family here and must now put our focus back on preserving that family for what we pray is many years to come.

We would have been nothing without the hard work and dedication of our amazing staff—the best crew in the biz. If you are short staffed and share your info, we’ll be sure to pass it along to any of our staff that may be looking for work.

We would have loved to have had one last celebratory blowout with you all. When the time comes, perhaps we will be able to have a final send off to bid you all farewell.

Though this marks the end of this particular chapter in its 50 year story, it is our hope that what we are leaving behind will find itself in someone else’s capable hands so that the colorful history and legacy of The Egg’s Nest will live on. If that might be you, please reach out. In the interim, the space will be available to rent for private events and pop ups.

Thank you for all the love you have shown us during our time here. We have made many lifelong friends and will never forget this community or our beloved Nest.

With gratitude,

Eric & Cristina

Go all out for our last brunch (and dinner) of April. Come grab a fully loaded Bloody Mary/Maria/Mezcal Maria/Red Snapper…cloudy days call for cozy Sunday brunches and Sunday Supper at The Nest 🪹…come get your Egg’s Nest fill for the next many weeks to come, as we will be closed for a Spring Break/Refresh starting tomorrow, April 17, through sometime in Early May. Upon our return there will be a shift in our hours/days/menu/overall approach (as referenced in our two-part post from the other day) and more time set aside for our family and health and your private parties and pop ups and hosted dinners and functions. More on that all to come in future posts…But for now let’s just focus on enjoying your favorite Brunch around and then come back tonight for some comforting dinner specials and be sure to stock up on some takeout to hold you over until we get back. We hear that nachos can be reheated in the proper oven and that Frida Bowls make quite the next morning breakfast burrito leftovers—thanks for the tip . Veggie Lasagna also stores well as do our parms, soups, fried chicken, eggplant meatballs and poke bowls and our (staff favorite) Chicken Milanese sandwich just to name a few…BRUNCH starts at 10am today followed by SUNDAY SUPPER til 8…and then we rest! See ya real soon ✌🏽

Geez. Looks like we skipped Spring and went straight to Summer! Thankfully Nacho season is 12 months a year. Catch your fix of the finest (Psychedelic) Nachos this side of the border…and do be sure to vote for us as your favorite Nachos in this year’s Chronogrammies (thanks for putting us in your top 5 so far!)…only 3 more days before our break starts on April 17 to get all your Nest Faves. Open tonight ‘til 9, Saturday 10-9, Sunday 10-8, and then we go on Spring Break and get a little bit of R&R ‘til May.

PART 2 of 2 (CONTINUED from previous post)
Our mission moving forward will be to continue to nourish the local community and the public at large, but this time to also honor our health and family. Without those things being properly nurtured and cared for, we, our staff and the business cannot operate at our best.
As well as regular service, private parties and group gatherings of all sorts will now become a major part of our future business model. Our new operating hours and menu offerings will reflect that shift when we reopen in May. If you or your loved ones are currently looking for a space for your private function, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We thank you for all of your support and patronage though the years and in this, the Egg’s Nest 50th year, it only seems fitting that it should be entering another chapter in its ever changing story—one that hopefully allows for its current authors to keep the eclectic mix of characters and plot lines and major life events that evolve within these four walls and its grounds ever growing.
So come out tomorrow, Friday, through Sunday and celebrate what the Egg’s Nest means to us all and enjoy our last weekend of service before our Spring break begins. We will be closed from April 17 until early May. The weather is going to be insanely Summeresque. We will have tables and chairs set up outside on our lovely patios that you can enjoy with your takeout orders.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and The Egg’s Nest story.

PART 1 of 2 (CONTINUED in next post)
The Egg’s Nest has always been about community. We have always prioritized taking care of our customers and remaining loyal to this community above all else. We never closed during the hardest days of the pandemic and have always opened our doors and our hearts and raised funds in times of need. At its heart, food has always been about sharing and love and it remains the most basic source of nurturing for us.
When it was just Cristina and I (and Ruthie with no childcare) and a few staff members, we kept going and feeding our community by the thousands with our own takeout service and through meals donated through Project Resilience and other programs. We felt that it was our duty to persevere and continue to feed and nourish those in need in their darkest hours.
Over the years we delayed and postponed breaks. We skipped any and every family/friend gathering and put this restaurant ahead of our family and our health. We subscribed to the ideology that when you are in this industry, you can’t ever live a normal life or find any sort of balance.
After much reflection, we have made a commitment to no longer function like that.
We and our staff will be taking a much deserved Spring Break starting on Monday April 17. We will refocus our energy, do some spring cleaning, catch our breath and pause to reflect a bit. When we return in May, it will be with different operating hours in place.
