We want to Thank all of you for all the support and help! One thing about this community is when there is a disaster, everyone gets together and helps out whatever they can. That’s why I’m proud to call Hermiston my hometown! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most of you know that Cozy Corner Tavern had a devastating fire on Sunday. We are deeply saddened by all of this and our hearts are hurting for Travis and employees. We are standing behind the Cozy and will help them in any way we possibly can. We definitely will keep everyone posted if there is some need we can take care of for them.
Thank you UMCF #1 and surrounding departments for keeping our Downtown safe and spared other businesses from the fire. You all are greatly appreciated!
In the meantime, keep the Cozy in your prayers that they get thru this & can make a full comeback!
Today at 2:59 p.m. Umatilla County Fire District #1 was dispatched to 198 E Main Street for a commercial building on fire. Upon arrival, crews found smoke showing with a fire in the basement. Engine 21 crews advanced a hose line to the bottom of stairs but heat and smoke prevented advancedment to the seat of the fire. Engine 22 was backup. Crews utilized ventilations and piercing nozzle to slow the flames from spreading. Eventually the floor fell and fire extended to main floor and roof. Crews ventilated the roof and went into a defensive attack with hose lines and protected the bravo side exposure. Currently all roads around Main Street and 2nd Street are shut down. No injuries reported. Cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Mutual aid was provided by Echo Fire Department, Boardman Fire Rescue District, Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District, Pendleton Fire & Ambulance, Morrow County Health District, City of Pendleton Fire Dept and Pilot Rock Fire District.
