We have news!!
Tonight will be the last night bar85 will be open to the public, I won’t get into too many details at this time, but I can say for a fact that our entire staff and family are extremely grateful for the memories and on going support that we have received for the two years we’ve been open! I will address a couple of things to keep the small town rumors in check tho, we are not in any trouble! We have bent over backwards to cater to the city and the officials that run it, we became members of the chamber of commerce along the way, and made great relationships with some of the people who dictate how businesses are ran in Henderson, unfortunately not everyone was so pleased to have a locally owned bar/club that embraced everyone that passed thru our doors, some people couldn’t accept that we didn’t do business like the previous owners or cater to the ones that’s “been coming here for years”. To our demise we allowed people to constantly down us because of some of these said things, instead we always tried to take the high road. North Carolina ALE and the henderson police department, along with the ABC board have never wrote us a ticket or found us in violation of the law, there is and has only ever been one owner of 85 and aside from a couple of scuffles that are bound to happen, we take pride in the fact that we have always done what’s right and tried to be the blueprint for others!
The town of henderson has its problems for sure, we hope that because of us the people that we cater too I.e 21-40ish year olds will take note, and understand that we will never “have” anything here, if our city continues to push away the places that brings EVERYONE together in a safe environment, places like ruby tuesdays, George’s, ribeyes and Ichibar continue to operate with bars open to the public, serving anyone of legal age from any demographic without issue, meanwhile locally owned and operated businesses struggle because they refuse to be told that they shouldn’t be treated the same as said places.
We at 85 have tried our absolute best to be an open book for our community, we began this journey hoping to be able to create an environment for everyone, so that people from other towns and cities could see that the people of henderson aren’t all bad people, our beautiful town has been plagued with murders and gangs and drugs and all the evil that you only hope to read about, this was our way at trying to give back, trying our best to give the people and officials and police a middle ground for discussions and communication to hopefully bridge the gap between fear and pride, unfortunately we never got the chance to really drive it home, we even offered a completely free night for anyone wearing a badge for our community but none of which took the opportunity sadly..
Ugh we really hate this y’all!! So much hard work went into this place, so many smiles and joy have been received and friendships made because of 85, so please bare with us!! 85 may be closing it’s doors tonight for the last time, but we are and have been looking to start fresh and relocate, because we absolutely refuse to just let the negative win!!
Thank you all for your support and love and most importantly the trust in us to provide the best place possible!!
Sincerely
