Hogpen Gap…a historical landmark well known for it’s scenic views of the Appalachian Trail and the surrounding Enotah area. The Indians term for it was literally translated to mean “a place of fresh green”. Hogpen was so named because the early settlers would chase the hogs, which had been fattened from foraging on the natural summertime mountain mast, to the top where they could trap them against
a fence before winter came. This meat and preserved vegetables from family gardens ensured survival & well being through the winters. Here at Hogpen Gap Grill, we try to keep up with that tradition of local sustenance. Everything on our menu is freshly prepared and made from scratch. Our meat and produce is from local small scale farmers all located within 20 miles of our area.Our Beef, fresh cut and ground daily, is certified Black Angus that has been “dry-aged” for 14 days before it comes to us, which ensures it’s succulent flavor and tenderness. It’s rated “00" which means “NO HORMONES” & “NO ANTIBIOTICS”. Our local Produce also ensures you’ll receive the freshest seasonal vegetables available. Our fresh Trout is picked up daily just north of us across Hogpen Gap in Blairsville, Georgia. As we like to say “If your eating it today…it was swimming this morning!”
Our Wurst are traditional style sausages, hand-made locally specially for Hogpen Gap Grill. We have an extensive wine list from the finest vineyards in North Georgia, as well as many local craft beers.
