We're a mom & pop urban, craft brewery and taproom hidden in the historic and vibrant neighborhood of Parkville, Hartford. Our flagship Kölsch-style beer (our only constant beer selection) sets the tone for our approach to beer. We favor classic German styles - Dunkelweizens, Hefeweizens and Schwarzbiers - but brew across the craft beer style map including Pale Ales, IPAs, Cream Ales, Browns, Port

ers, Stouts, Smoked Red, Saison, etc. Within our taproom you'll find pieces of manufacturing history, large and small, carried over from when the space was Hartford Rubber Works, later Pope Manufacturing. With an industrial slant but laid-back vibe, folks feel at home in 'Hartford's Living Room." You'll usually find a food truck outside, games inside and good conversation everywhere. Check out our events schedule - we love to bring unique experiences to the taproom, including live music, barre classes, beer dinners, pop-up maker events and more. It's been an incredible 7 years here at 🍻 But the time has come for us to focus on creating our forever home and move on from our Hartford location.

Yes, we are moving on from our taproom. BUT we are not going away. You will still find our beer at package stores, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, event venues…you name it! We hope to be in more places close to you by the end of the year.

We can't tell you how much we will miss this place and the amazing memories we all shared with you here…Soulful Sundays, the Christmas Tree Farm, Scribble Fest, our Homebrew Competition and the list goes on and on.

We have the BEST customers out there! And we hope you'll continue your loyal support as we venture through this transition. We'll need your love and support of Hog River more than ever to help us move onto that forever home!

As we wind down our taproom production here, we hope you'll come party with us and send us out on a high.

We will be closed for the remainder of this week and reopening on Saturday April 15th.

Our Story

We're an urban craft brewery and taproom hidden in the historic and vibrant neighborhood of Parkville, Hartford. We make beers to accompany you through the journey of life - through the happiest of moments, the roughest days, the most joyous celebrations, the most tiring weeks and everything in between. We’re proud to offer a wide range of beers as we aim to give each and every customer a beer they like. You’ll find German classics like Kölsch-style ales, Schwarzbiers, and Dunkelweizens alongside New-England style IPAs and DIPAs, our popular fruited sour series and the occasional barrel-aged offerings. Within our taproom you'll find pieces of early 20th century manufacturing history, large and small, carried over from when the space was Hartford Rubber Works, a rubber tire factory. With an industrial slant but laid-back vibe, folks feel at home here in 'Hartford's Living Room." You'll usually find a food truck outside, games inside and good conversation everywhere.

In our new private event space and barrel-aging room, The Stave Room, you’ll find an intimate and warm atmosphere accented by barrels, wood accents, a large bar and comfy seating. The space is perfect for private events, like rehearsal dinners, fundraisers, baby showers and all kinds of parties.

We also like to love to throw fun events for the public throughout the year, like our annual Christmas Tree Farm, Scribble Fest (in honor of our brewery dog Scribble) and Homebrew Competition, as well as yoga classes, pop-up markets and more. We post all these on Facebook, Instagram as well as our website. Thanks for checking us out! Come visit us when you’re looking for a safe haven from the mad, mad world. We’ll be here with open arms!
