Effective immediately, I will be closing the Budd Lake Bar’s doors for the foreseeable future. My husband and I bought this bar nearly 15 years ago. As an alumna of Harrison High School, being a Harrison businesswoman has been one of my most treasured accomplishments. While this choice weighs on me heavily, I must affirm that the degree of pride and love I have for my Hornet Community is unwavering.
When my husband passed 8 years ago, the work that we shared in being present at our 3 bars, farms, and electrical company fell onto me. The work shared between two people now fell onto one, and my individual efforts missed the partnership of my husband. With that said, I am immensely grateful to the efforts over the years of those who have dedicated their time, efforts, and loyalty into sustaining and rebuilding the Budd Lake Bar.
Unfortunately, after a specific subset of employees working Halloween chose a path of actions related to theft that disrespected management, myself, and the establishment itself, I can no longer allow the doors to remain open knowing the lack of respect missing in the absence of a physical manager/owner.
Please know this decision was not made lightly. My life's passion is found in the bar industry, especially in the memories that new and old friends cultivate, treasure, and remember into the later days of their lives.
I am so grateful for the many laughs that have erupted from these barstools; for the relationships that began with the stranger next to you; for the tears shed for a community member in need aside you; and for the days my husband spent at the end of the bar making friends and enjoying some of his last days with the utmost lightness of life.
Harrison, I love you. And I thank you for allowing me to be part of your wonderful community. I appreciate your support moving forward.
