When we re-opened in 2020, after the shutdown orders were lifted, no one knew what to expect. No one knew what it would be like in two months, let alone two years. Well here we are.
The theme for last weekend was a going-away party. Café 1500 served its final dish (Crab Cake Benedict with pesto hollandaise) on March 6.
Last weekend gave us a chance to say goodbye to the community that has supported us for the past 8+ years: to the extended family of patrons who filled this space with life, at all the brunches, wine dinners, private parties, holidays and special occasions. If anyone is still wondering if Harrisburg knows how to have a good time, the answer is yes and we’ve got the empty champagne bottles to prove it.
Thank you for being a part of it. Thank you for the kindness and generosity you’ve shown our staff. Thank you for supporting us through all the highs and lows, thank you for enlivening an upstart cafe in Midtown Harrisburg.
While we have to say goodbye, many other restaurants in Harrisburg continue on and would love to welcome you through their doors. Please try someplace new, taste what they have to offer, and go back if it’s great, and even if it’s not go back anyway and give it a second chance. Please lend your support to our community’s restaurant scene. Until we meet again.
