Friends,
A moment of your time please.
This is to provide a factual update and dispel rumors and speculation.
We love our building.
Yes, plenty of detractors for how long it took to open, but it needed a lot of repair and renovation. A lot. And we love the results.
We love the location, cool building in a very cool spot. Love the town, love the river.
We love the many new friends we have made in the community, some truly wonderful people.
We for sure have not loved inflation causing our costs of goods and overhead nearly doubling.
We can’t double the prices of drinks and food.
We really didn’t love learning that our property and flood insurance tripled in cost, with no claims or losses.
Big hit for a small business in lean times.
And… we certainly didn’t love our dear friend Eric of Sidekick BBQ having to pull away to take care of himself, health and family always come first.
The hospitality industry has been hit hard by a number of challenges, be thoughtful to your friends and family working hard to make their way.
Perhaps conditions will improve in the short term or longer term future. We have and will continue to thoughtfully analyze all of these factors and carefully consider options that make sense.
For now, at least for the always slower winter months, we will take a break for further monitoring of the big picture.
Perhaps short term, perhaps not.
We are very thankful for the community support along the way and hope the support continues through any and all challenges.
The FBC brand remains solid, our other locations (including our distilling operations) are full go.
Thank you again, friends.
We love what we do and will do our best in terms of when and where and why that is viable.
Let’s all hope for a kinder economy for all of us.
Cheers!
