Happy {Rye} Day.
Rye was America’s first whiskey — distilled by colonists, favored by George Washington, used as currency during the Revolution. Bourbon came later. Rye came first.
Prohibition nearly erased it. The craft revival brought it back. And in northern Minnesota, on a farm at the edge of the country, we’ve been doing something with it that nobody else has — growing single varietal rye and distilling each variety separately, because the grain changes everything that ends up in your glass.
This year, the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States recognized us with first place for taking American whiskey into a new, meaningful and modern direction.
