Upper Peninsula Malt Co. is an artisan floor malting company with the purpose of creating finely crafted malts of old world quality. Our malt is made by hand in very limited quantity. Grown in the short season of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where nature’s challenges are met resulting in malt with unique flavor characteristics. Our malt is not for every brewer or for every beer. We do not try to compete with commodity malts that are most commonly used. Our appeal is to the most discerning brewers who want to capture the unique malt flavors from U.P. grown grains. We offer a limited volume to a very narrow customer base of select brewers. We limit our annual production to about as much malt as local commercial brewers use in a month in their production facilities. Limited quantities allow us to pay particular attention to every step of the malting of each batch. We maintain a quiet profile and build lasting relationships with our brewer friends. We seek out the true independent craft brewers who have the highest regard for the unique quality of their beer.
