The MDBHF is held annually on the 3rd Saturday in September --- Greenville, MS! The first Mississippi Delta Blues Festival was more of a community gathering than a musical concert. It, along with the next nine Festivals, was held at Freedom Village, a rural community of less than 100 people which showed what was wrong with poverty and the programs designed to remedy poverty. Initially, the Festiva

l was almost exclusively comprised of traditional blues people, playing acoustic instruments, (guitar, harmonica, and jug), on a flatbed trailer stage surrounded by the audience. While the Festival has grown in size, and certain aspects (staging, security, and management) have become more professional, it is still a community event, affordable to most residents and depending heavily on community volunteers.

Mississippi Action For Community Education, Inc. (MACE) along with the Mayor Errick Simmons and the Greenville City Council will hold a press conference on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 12noon on the steps of City Hall to announce the lineup for the 49th Annual Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival. Mayor Errick D. Simmons in conjunction with Mississippi Action for Community Education, Inc. (MACE) and the Mississippi Delta Blues & Heritage Festival Advisory Committee will hold a press conference on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 12 noon on the steps of the City Hall to announce the Artist Line-up For The 49th Annual Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival. This year’s line-up will feature wide range of music from Delta Blues to Hill Country Blues to Louisiana Blues to Soul Blues to Southern Soul and a tribute to the Blues by an international artist. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Washington County Convention Center Fairgrounds. All media and the public are invited.
