The Final Chapter
After much reflection and with heavy hearts, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Arktos Meadery. Our last day of service will be August 31.
Like many small businesses in the craft beverage industry, we’ve been facing mounting challenges. The economy has been hard on us all, and the recent closure of the main public parking lot near our location, cleared to make way for a new Amway soccer stadium, was far more of an arrow to the knee than the Grand Rapids City Commissioners were willing to admit when we gave them our concerns in public comment when they were looking to approve the project last year. Since that day in late May, our sales have dropped sharply, and despite every saving throw, we’ve run out of hit points.
We’ve fought hard, but even the bravest Viking knows when it’s time to sail west. And while this may be the end of our saga, we are endlessly proud of the world we built with you. Arktos isn’t just a meadery, it is a gathering hall, a quest hub, and a place for adventurers of all kinds to come together.
We hope you’ll join us for one more toast, one more tale, before we close our doors. Come raise a goblet with us now through August 31.
