I'm on a quest for wines of South America at the moment and was introduced to such an interesting grape yesterday! "Marselan" is a hybrid grape created from granache and cab sauve. While it was created in France in the 1960's to be tolerant of difficult weather and disease resistant, the wine I tasted was from Uruguay, which also has weather concerns, etc. So I'm shouting out to my grape growing friends in Colorado! Has anyone tried planting this grape yet? The wine was delicious! Big cherry on the nose with eucalyptus, mint, and an earthy component. The palate was medium+ in body with sandy tannins. It was very nicely balanced and downright yummy! Please tell me this is something we Colorado wine lovers can be looking forward to in the future! Sauvage Spectrum Restoration Vineyards
